Thanks, Borges. I know I can block it. That’s not really the point. Why do we have to sit back and let evil creep and creep and creep into everything so that there is nothing left BUT the evil? I think we have been too complacent for the past 30 years and more. Everyone says, “change the channel,” or “turn it off,” and now it’s “block it.” It doesn’t work.

You're right, PP. I knew what you were asking, and I know you didn't want a simple "block it" reply.

With Facebook, you're dealing with a hell-run entity. Although many people will carry on about how "wonderful" Facebook is for "keeping in touch with family and friends," the bottom line is that it's a "self-service surveillance" system that the powers-that-be are happy to use for data mining--not that you care about that.

However, since you know that commie bastards run it, don't be surprised when Christian-bashing is perfectly "fine," while anything that disparages the Left's causes is quickly shut down.

You have little recourse with "The Machine," so flee Facebook, posthaste--that's my suggestion.

Thanks! I have spent the past several months agonizing over whether to leave Facebook precisely for the reasons you state! And I know you are right. But there is much good on there. God’s glory is revealed all the time and I know that God will use Facebook. And I do enjoy keeping in touch with many people on there.

I appreciate your comments. Thanks again.

Exactly. I cannot imagine why anyone would open themselves up to thousands of strangers, who may not have your best interests at heart. Facebook has seemed extremely creepy to me from the get-go. Email works just fine for keeping in touch.

And then, of course, the surveillance thing. Plus, data mining by companies who want to sell you things you don't want or don't want your children to have. I.E. The head of marketing at Diageo, largest manufacturer of alcohol in the world, smugly stated recently that they hardly have to do market research, as people on Facebook tell them how to advertise to them. Many of those "people" are underage.
