Where in the Bible does it say/require a believer to disarm be it spear, sword, slingshot or powder? These men should be forthright and say/make clear these are their personal feelings and not of biblical origin. Come to think about it otherwise I wonder if there were clergy who supported the 2nd Amendment- I would think so but will be interested in Graham’s and Land’s elucidation.
But their support come with conditions. Graham wants the president to tax violence in Hollywood films and use part of the money to help victims of gun violence. Land said President Obama should improve the nation’s mental health system. He emphasized that his organization does not support the ban on assault weapons, which passed out of the Senate Judicial Committee today.
Still, a universal background check is more like registration--and this is what these two men need to be told.
Franklin Graham does NOT support Obama. Neither does Mr. Land. Now I agree that it sounds perfectly "reasonable". But just a simple check on history, and reaching a simple understanding that the 'god of this world' is running things in Washington D.C., should allow one to see through such nice sounding notions. Knowing these things (and I'm sure these ministers know them), these ministers are acting like judas goats.
