Of course, its seems the old saw at work again where each man looks at the Bible and invents his own religion a la Rev.Wright, Billy Graham, Joel Osteen, Rev. Schuller. How true Belloc’s observation that Protestantism spawned a “cluster” of heresies.

You're not phasing me by continually using the word "heresies". Catholics go against the teaching of the bible every time they call a priest "father', put their graven images in their Cathedrals, pray to saints, etc. Being a Protestant, I don't accuse others of being heretics because only God knows the heart. But I do know when someone commits an act that the bible teaches against. Now if that elevates a person to be a heretic, only God knows.

Some good has come of our conversation. Been doing some studying on Peter and now I'm of the opinion he was never in Rome. I'm thinking you guys have mistaken the Samaritan Simon (Simon Magus) of Acts with Simon Peter (or Simon Cephas). Simon Magus did try to buy an Apostleship and Peter himself rebuked him. Simon Magus did go to Rome just after that and was perhaps known as Simon Pater, "pater" being a Roman word for a certain man of high standing, and now Catholics mistake him for Simon Peter. Have you looked into the book of Acts to consider what happened between Peter and Simon Magus and the results thereof?

Too sophomoric.

“Go against the Bible”? Where do you get this stuff from when the Church itself authorized the writings you and Protestants call the Bible.

“You Guys have Mistaken” Right! Like hundreds of noted theological scholars including leading Lutheran (Richard Neuhaus) and Anglican (Henry Newman) theologians who ended up converting to Catholicism.
