Dangus, You’ve hit on the crux of my question. Does Cardinal Burke have authority to tell the proaborts to abstain at the inaugural Mass? Or does that authority reside solely with Wuerl or the bishops in the home dioceses of these politicians?

The church preaches, it does not enforce. Cardinal Burke can proclaim to the world that pro-abortion politicians drink condemnation onto themselves when they receive the eucharist, and he can admonish and clarify canon law to his fellow bishops. But I do not know of any mechanism by which he can force Cardinal Wuerl to act. The church seems so much harsher against the trads than the liberals, the SSPX broke canon law. The liberals are more subversive.

I missed the word, “inaugural.” In general, Wuerl does what he wants in his diocese. At the papal mass, it’s up to Pope Francis. My main concern is that being an Argentine, he doesn’t know Pelosi from Adam.
