Jesuit, he is definitely a leftist. In what sense? That's like saying because I've been to San Francisco, I'm gay. Couldn't be further from the truth.

Nope. I had good Jesuit Fr. Edward Berbusse for U.S. Constitution at Christendom College. Very pro-U.S. Constitution, conservative, intelligent, charitable, tough on tardiness, and otherwise gentle and prayerful soul. May he rest in peace.
I also had Fr. Miceli, who broke with the order, but retained the training. Brilliant, but never lost the Bronx accent. A fine, fine man. May he rest in peace as well.
With Jesuits, your mileage will vary. the corruption of the best is the worst, so there are plenty of bad Jesuits out there. I doubt Pope Francis is one of them.
