The 4th Commandment... rest on the Sabbath day.

Didn't Jesus say that man was not made for the Sabbath, but the Sabbath was made for the man. ?

When the bible tells us that God rested after he created the heavens and the earth in 6 days and on the 7th day he rested it means, all that God wanted to create was finished, no adding to it, no taking away.
Same thing when Jesus said " it is finished " .
The book of Hebrews tells us to be fearful of one thing ? least you don't enter into the rest of God.
Jesus Christ is our Sabbath.... all the work that God requires, all the demands, Jesus Christ finished it for us... in our stead.
No human can make him or her self holy in God's eyes, what Jesus meant by " be perfect for your father in heaven is perfect " is ? becoming born again, believing on Christ for your salvation, God's holiness is the gift he gives to us.
IN Christ we are made perfect, holy in God's eyes.
So yes, in effect Mike Hoggard is right, all the righteous demands, all the law requires was nailed to the cross because God killed the power of sin in the flesh by nailing it to the cross.
Saint Paul said that, had he not known the law he would not have known what sin is.
God's law is God's guilty verdict to us, all of us are made guilty in the sight of God's Law.... and no one can escape it, nor can anyone be made holy or righteous by keeping the law... so the solution was ? God sent his son Jesus Christ.
So you want to keep the law as God would have us to keep it perfectly and whole ? complete ? put on Christ, believe in Christ, and trust in Christ Jesus for your salvation.
But, we get those who say " yeah, but even the demons believe " ..... the problem is ? Jesus Christ didn't redeemed the fallen angels, nor did he die on the cross for them, nor can any fallen angel, that's what demons are, nor can demons become born again.... God decided their fate long before the world was created.
IN Christ, God took our guilty verdict and turned it into " NOT GUITLY " ... for we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

Jesus said be perfect for your father in heaven is perfect... how ? the imputed righteousness of Christ Jesus, that's how.

So now then ? our true Sabbath ? our true rest in God is ? Jesus Christ...

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Yeshua Messiah, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from lawlessness and to purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

The Son, the Word of God therefore the Living Law of God reminded us of the fate of those who continue in disobedience.

John 3:36 “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

1Pet 2:21 For to this you were called, because Messiah also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: 22 “Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth”

Heb 4:6 Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, 7 again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.”[Ps 95:7-8; 1Cor 10:1-11] 8 For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remains therefore a Sabbath keeping for the people of God. 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

Unless one is dead and in the grave, ones work is not done. Therefore, the Sabbath command was not done away with in Messiah, but rather filled with meaning in Messiah.
