Fox News anchor Bill OReilly, who is writing an upcoming book titled Killing Jesus, proclaimed on his program Wednesday night that a lot of the Bible is allegorical, and the New Testament Gospels contradict themselves.
OReilly made the remarks during an interview with Touched by an Angel star Roma Downey and her husband Mark Burnett, executive producers of The Bible TV miniseries which begins this Sunday night on the History Channel.

did I miss your sarcasm tag???? Because if you really believe what you postedI am left speechless
Hey, the fact is that Professor Ehrman is one of the foremost experts on the New Testament. He’s the author of several books on the subject and The Great Courses (out of Chantilly, VA) offers his course in the New Testament (which is very scholarly and detailed) on DVD.
Nonetheless, knowing the Aramaic meaning of what Jesus said is useful in interpreting it. The writings in Greek occasionally mistranslate the Aramaic. The Noohra Foundation is very good on this.
Nonetheless, if he hung himself in shame, he couldn’t very well have gone on to buy land with his money. He’d be dead, after all.
Facts are facts. Do you actually think we do have the originals? If so, what is your evidence?
If the people of Nod are NOT descended from Adam and Eve, then presumably there are descendents of theirs who are not descended from Adam and Eve — if you even believe that that story is anything more than a story. Unless Cain’s wife was the only female in Nod, which I would think is VERY unlikely.
Now, if that is so, that blows a big fat hole in the doctrine of Original Sin, doesn’t it?
Still acting like the Bible was written chronologically?
Dunno if you saw the sign above the door on this site. It’s for believers more so than the proverbial ravening wolves.
The Textus Receptus is a Latin document, not even close to being the original New Testament, as Bible scholars know. There are many older versions.
>> “Speaking as someone who has taught a Bible course, the Bible is full of contradictions. Every scholar and student of the Bible knows it.” <<

Biblically illiterate unbelievers such as your self may believe such tripe, but the contradictions come mostly from lack of reading comprehension.
There are a few bloopers in the Gospels that were caused by translating them from the original Hebrew into Greek; these are from Hebrew puns and idioms being translated by unbelievers ignorant of the Hebrew culture.

Elohim, or any Hebrew word ending in ‘im’ is plural. The “us” is the Father and the Son.
The accounts of the crucifixion are hopelessly irreconcilable. Jesus cannot have said the things he is reported to have said if, as Mark tells us, he was silent the entire time.

That is what you get from reading from a “modern translation” rather than from the Bible.
Get a KJV, and you will be on the way to clearer understanding. ‘Modern’ bible readers are generally deeply confused, because that is the purpose of the new translations.
TennesseeProfessor desperately wishes to believe that there are contradictions.

Bzzzzzt - Fail!
And when we don't, it gets louder and more forceful until we do.
The Textus Receptus is a Latin name for Greek documents. Even Wikipedia cannot avoid that fact.
>> “Going back to the original language would clear up many things.” <<

Yes, but Constantine did his best to destroy all that he could find in the original Hebrew.
The seminaries teach textual analysis and when you apply that method, you see many contradictions. They are abundant. Many have been cited on this thread, and that is far from being all of them.
