No Patricia, it's only girlish in USAmerica, because the Herns have a habit of giving boys' names to girls.

This is certainly true. Having a son named Alexis (both a wonderful saint and an old family name) I can attest to it. I have become sick of hearing people say that he has a girl's name, as if Dynasty or whatever is any kind of measure of proper naming. Why must people insist on making boy's ashamed of having beautiful boy's names? Must everyone be named Dirk or Brock? It is just sad.

I'm still trying to work out the naming of the notorious Pastor Bell.

While definitely a traditional guy name ("Famous warrior") it's never been that popular in English speaking countries, which have prefered the French variant "Louis".

But how did she end up with it? I'm thinking her mother must thought
