So you say, but the Lutheran Church in Germany at the time very much did have Bishops just as the Evangelical Lutherans did and do to this day.

I was Lutheran for thirty years and I know that whatever others may want to call them, the Germans who were in Lutheran churches in Germany at that time were very Lutheran and did and do have bishops as do Lutheran churches in several other European countries. What those who think most Lutherans vanished sometime in the mid-nineteenth century think, I don't much care. Nor do I care for US Lutherans outside the Missouri Synod (which as I recall has a Synod President and District Presidents) and I haven't checked this week to see if they're still in one piece so if they've changed along with so many others, I may not agree with them on very much either.

If you're saying that today those outside of the Missouri Synod mostly aren't Lutheran other than in name, I would agree.

At the time of WWII, though, that wasn't the case.
