Yes. The fact that she became pregnant IS a fact that would be difficult to hide. That makes the flaunting of her defiance of her contract and the rules of the Catholic Church very public. It is unfortunate that she chose to engage in premarital sexual intercourse against both the rules of the Church and the terms of her contract, but she did so in the knowledge that it was both morally wrong AND against the moral clause of her contract.

The risky behavior that IS intrinsic with the sexual act should be enough for MOST people to be more responsible with their decision making, but responsible behavior is often hard to come by in society these days.

Regardless, the Church requires that their employees, particularly those who are involved directly in the education and moral instruction of children to adhere to those teachings in their private lives. They require that those employees sign a contract to that effect. She violated that contract and is subject to dismissal for cause. She was so dismissed.
