Nor is there any disproof of the claim. However, by 140s, there were already pilgrimages to the shrines of Peter and Paul in Rome, and Rome was a major center of the Church, naturally enough, since it was the capital of the empire.

But for such an imperative doctrine with which the Roman Catholic Church claims she alone has preeminence OVER all Christians of the world, SHOULDN'T there be solid proof???!!! That there were pilgrimages to Rome, as a major center of the church since it was the capital of the empire, does nothing to prove the absolute and infallible (according to Rome) statement that the primacy of the Roman Bishop/Pope goes all the way back to the Apostolic times as Vatican I says. That really was the point of my contention. There are supposedly relics of the bones of Peter and Paul buried beneath altars in church buildings in Rome. It doesn't prove that Peter was actually alive IN Rome establishing THE church of Rome with Paul. Y'all can believe whatever you want, but I don't think it is wise to INSIST that everybody must believe the same about this and, if they don't, they are anathematized. Do you think it's right? Do you think Rome has that right over every Christian?
