what do you consider to be the correct canon of Scripture?
The principle here is that "two wrongs do not make a right."
I got 10$ you posted it using your normal handle.
Only way warning me and not the other guy makes sense.
Officals are supposed to go after the guy that started it, and did the worse offense.
I wold consider the protestant bible (not including the apocrypha added in the Catholic bible) as canon.
That being said, I personally find the book of Enoch to stand up pretty well as instructive. As you may know, it’s mentioned in several NT books.
You have to recognize the work of God in preserving his word over generations.
do you realize the first 66 book Bible did not appear on the world stage until the 16th century?
do you realize prior to the 16th century, every Bible, including the one used by Paul included what you refer to the “apocrypha”?
do you realize the protestants threw out the “apocrypha”?
i believe God protects His Word and would not allow an incorrect canon to be used for 1,500 years, don’t you?
I guess they don’t know that monergism is a heresy.
In the analogy we have three persons, lets call them John, Jim and Theo. John and Jim represent all men John represent those will go to heaven, which in this analogy is represented by going to the concert, of which a ticket, representing salvation, is required. Jim represents those who do not go to heaven while Theo represents God.
Monergism
John and Jim are not aware of the concert they even cannot afford to buy ticket no matter how hard they work. Theo decided to send free ticket to John. John found the ticket inside his mail box it made him interested in the concert and therefore he goes to the concert. Jim did not receive free ticket he cannot go to the concert and remains unaware of the concert.
Protestants and Bible only Christians who follow Calvinism or Reformed theology are monergists.
Synergism
John and Jim are not aware of the concert they even cannot afford to buy ticket no matter how hard they work. Theo took the initiative he offered free tickets to both John and Jim. John said he wanted to go to the concert and accepted the offer. Jim, on the other hand, said he is not interested in the concert and declined the offer.
Catholics, Protestants and Bible only Christians who follow Arminianism are synergists
Semi-Pelagianism
John and Jim are aware of the concert but they cannot afford to buy ticket no matter how hard they work. John decided he wanted to go to the concert. Realizing he will never be able to buy the ticket, he contacted Theo for help Theo gave him free ticket. Jim, on the other hand, is not interested to go to concert and does not bother to contact Theo.
Pelagianism
John and Jim are aware of the concert and they can afford to buy ticket, though they must work hard. John decided he wanted to go to the concert he has been working hard for it. Optionally he can ask Theo for help if he does Theo will give him money a gift from him (not a loan) and it can cover partial cost of the ticket. Jim, on the other hand, is not interested to go to concert and does not bother to do anything.
Pelagian and semi-Pelagian were condemned at Council of Orange in 529 AD.
I believe God works in ways we don’t know, don’t understand, and cannot fathom.
Let me ask you what you asked me a different way — Give we did not have the NT writings until after Jesus, i.e. the Jews lived under the law, how did God allow an incorrect canon for 4,000 years?
Romans 1 — everything that needs to be known about God, is obvious in His creation — it’s not that there is not enough light, the problem is man does not embrace God’s message. (This is known a general revelation).
So, what do I believe about the bible? As I said in an earlier post, I think that each of the “books” in the bible are cannon, and there may be some beyond the current canon that are God inspired, such as the book of Enoch.
However, as I said before, God does not need our help. You cannot destroy his Word. If we did succeed, the very stones would testify.
The Bible is the most accurate, most preserved (as proven by the dead sea scroll) book ever. Portions of Enoch were found among the dead sea scrolls.
I have never heard of other non-canonical books found there, other the essene manual of discipline, and a few others. BTW, they are very interesting as well, and work well as a bridge between OT and NT.
I think you should add “one pope” to your handle as well.
