Imagine a demographic that has doubled its share of the population over the past two decades, is up by 25 percent over the past four years, and now accounts for as many as one in five Americans. Imagine that this demographic votes disproportionately for one political partyto the tune of 70 percent for Obama versus 26 percent for Romney in the 2012 election. Sounds like a demographic that ought to be of interest to politicians, journalists, and activists, right?
That demographic consists of people who describe themselves as atheist, agnostic, or religiously unaffiliatedthe nones, as theyre sometimes called. And it hasnt attracted anywhere near the attention it deserves in the postgame analysis of the 2012 election.

I don’t understand, he admitted it at one time, why is he so ashamed of it now? This has been over a whole lifetime, not just recently.
Okay, in some places, Rove has called himself an agnostic, but it seems clear he was doing that for PR reasons.
Revelation 3:15-16 is not addressed to atheists and agnostics, but rather to believers. Jesus just a few verses later (19) says “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.” And in Hebrews 12:6ff “Whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, where of all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.”
This 70% group that likes Obama are bastards, children of wrath not chastisement.
1996 Dole 37,816,307 2000 Bush 50,459,211 2004 Bush 59,130,092 2008 McCain 59,948,323 2012 Romney 60,265,579
The only thing Rove has an undying love for and attachment to is his bank account.
A harvest of missionary opportunities for Christian missionaries.
My numbers came from this site:
Us election 2012: Republican recriminations as Romney gets fewer votes than McCain
With the final votes still being counted in Florida, Mr Romney had yesterday accrued 57.8 million votes to Mr Obama's 60.6 million, amid the lowest turnout in a decade.
In 2008, Mr McCain received 59.9 million votes while losing to Mr Obama. Mr Romney also attracted less support than John Kerry, who in 2004 received 59 million votes when he lost to Mr Bush.
The "With the final votes still being counted" part is likely why my numbers are wrong.
My assertion stands, however, that Rove is not conservative, he cultivates and promotes non-conservative candidates, and that those candidates will never engender enough conservative enthusiasm to win an election.
Lumping “religiously unaffiliated” with “atheist” is an incredibly dishonest ploy.
It’s like lumping all “independents” with “socialists”.
A person who is religiously unaffiliated would say he is an atheist if that is what he is.
lying with statistics, of course.
First, she assumes everyone without a church doesn’t believe in a deity
Then she assumes that those who never thought about these things but watch all the trendy atheist type stuff are atheists
Then she assumes that all agnostics or people who have questions if God exists or those in a crisis of faith are atheists
Finally, she assumes that no one changes their mind.
Technically, the number of actual atheists hasn’t increased much: most are in the other categories.
It is also false that Romney got 2,000,000 votes less than McCain. IIRC, at last count, Romney actually has more than McCain so be accurate.
Why do you fear Jeb Bush--just don't vote for him. No one is going to go into a voting booth and hold a gun to your head to made sure you vote Bush. This irrational behavior here on FR has got to stop. We have a job to do and that is to try to save our country BUT I fear it may be too late. Too many here on FR have more fun trying to be perpetual victims and whine, whine, whine.
Maybe it's time to start thinking about who you want next and don't worry about the GOPe because they're not a factor. You can support anyone you want.
