It is a curious thing. How Christian values are juxtaposed against that Devil Religion MormonISM, yet it always seems to be conventiently manifested in a diatribe about one Mormon (no ISM) or another.
I suppose now that I’ll get spammed by rote and verse by well-meaning Christian inspired dogma against MormonISM [we all here know who they are].
From the first Satan has deceived, beguiled and convinced man to do what is right in his own eyes.

Matthew 7:13-14
King James Version (KJV)
“...
“13. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14. Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads unto life, and few there be that find it...” ___________________________________________________________ BELIEVERS ARE EFFECTED BY WHAT IT IS THEY BELIEVE, IT IS PRESENT IN ALL THINGS THEY DO. GOD HELP US, LET US NOT BE DECEIVED, WE SEEK TO BE PLEASING TO THEE, IN JESUS NAME, AMEN.
My purpose wasn’t to restore him to Mormonism, but to show him through the truth of the Word what true Christianity is and even counter some of the false beliefs.
However, he had many good qualities, which, unfortunately, will not get one into heaven. You sound like a kind person, but need to pray and ask God to open your eyes and yes, to correct you if you are believing something that isn’t true.
Also, any group that calls itself the “true church” is most definitely a false one. The church is made up of the body of believers in Christ - it isn’t an organization, but a spiritual bond shared by those who have repented of their sins and accepted Christ as their personal savior. Yes, it is quite possible to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ - even though your teachings don’t believe this.
Catsrus,
Unlike you, I believe that Jesus Christ is the literal spiritual and mortal Son of God the Eternal Father, pretty much as he said he was in the New Testament, without centuries of corrupt doctrinal wrangling.
I also believe that I am a spiritual Son of God as the Apostle Paul taught. Satan is an errant spiritual son (or angle)of God. I believe that all of God’s spiritual offspring is related.
This is not a doctrine that our church focuses on, and is generally attributed to people who distort this donctrine to try to demonize our religion. But, yes by inference, Satan is related to all of the spritual offspring of God, which would include myself, you, and Jesus Christ the only Begotten (in the flesh) of God the Father.
"Sold their souls" is a little strong for me but people like Billy Graham did nothing to advance Christianity.
I could not bring myself to vote for or support either main line candidate and I feel just fine about it.
Anybody ready to tell me that I helped reelect Obama? Gee, I've never heard that one before!
Do you have a reputable citation or study link to show those numbers.
Since you are a n00b here at FR, you may have missed some of the comments that have been made by the site owner, Jim Robinson on his personal Christian beliefs. Here is a recent example:
"At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon "bigot" on FR. Well, if being in opposition to false prophets and false prophecy makes a Christian believer a bigot, then I guess I'm a bigot. I've posted before that I flat do not believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. Nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Christian bible warns us to be weary of false prophets and that I am. Romney being the presumptive Republican nominee does not change that fact."
Satan was a created being - an angel. He rebelled against God and he and 1/3 of the angels who rebelled were cast down to earth.
Jesus was God in the flesh - born of a virgin mother and conceived by the Holy Spirit.
Satan isn’t related to us - he was a created being - an angel whose name was Lucifer. We are born of flesh.
Like I said - you are sincere in what you believe, but sincerely wrong in many areas. You claim that we demonize your theology, while in fact, you do the same regarding Christianity.
Sorry, but your reference to Mathew 7:13 has a possible interpretation of excluding “Mainstream” Christianity.
the reference to “ straight is the Gate, and Narrow the Way, and few there be that find it”.
“Few” is hardly a definition of “main stream” Christianity which does and has encompassed much of the European population of the earth for two thousand years.
Many who call themselves “Christians” may not be Christians as we believe. Catholics refer to themselves as Christians, however, I’ve always just considered them Catholics. The term Catholic actually means universal. They too, have some erroneous teachings, but do not deny the Son. They place too much emphasis on Mary, in my opinion.
One of the main differences between our beliefs, is the LDS doctrine of a pre-existence where all mankind existed as spiritual creations or angles of God prior to being born into mortailty.
This doctrine has clear underpinnings in the Bible and was widely taught in early Christian Churches before Roman Emperors at the time of Constantine were awarded the ultimate authority of Christian Doctrine.
Please excuse me for believing in the same doctrine as 2nd Century Oridgen and other early Christian Theologians, which didn’t survive the Roman Emperor edits.
By thier and my interpretation, Satan is a errant spiritual brother to all of Gods children.
To a certain degree this is secondary to our belief, worship and faith in the God the Father and in the redeeming blood of Jesus Christ, the Savior.
I should have taken it as a sign of America's cultural down fall. But that wasn't the only sign.
These are the two big problems I saw with this election. One, some people who voted for Romney went out of their way to make Mormonism a Christian religion. ( Laura Ingraham, John Gibson, etc...)
Two, the people who voted for Obama. They didn't care about anything, not about his past, his political record or his faith.
I worry for my children's future.
Where you err, is that when God created man, he created him as a living soul. Angels do not have souls, therefore, we are not like them. If you get into the Word, you will find that angels have no part in redemption. They worship God, but when you read in Revelation about the saints worshiping Jesus for His salvation - the angels have to step back - they can’t partake in that particular part of our worship.
There is definitely a difference between angels and man because the Bible says that we were created a little lower than the angels. That doesn’t make us equal.
You seem to be coming down hard on Catholics which teach the Trinity. The term trinity isn’t in the Bible, but the word Godhead is - and it says that in Him (Jesus) dwelt the fullness of the Godhead -this is where we get the term trinity. The Catholics are correct in this belief.
One of the main differences between our belief system is the LDS belief that all of man are spiritual creations of God the Father that existed in a premortal existance as angels awaiting birth in mortality.
This doctrine has strong underpinnings in both the Old and New Testament and was taught by many “Main Stream” Christians Theologians prior to the 4th Century.
This doctrine requires that all people born into mortality and all of the angels who followed Satan were spiritual brothers and sisters, which would include me, you, Satan, and yes even Jesus Christ.
Sorry you don’t like this doctrine, it was taught by 2nd Century Oridgen, and unfortuantely didn’t survive the Roman Emperor edits of Christian Doctrine that regularly occurred after Constantine in the 4th Century.
However, this is secondary, a person may obtain salvation being totally ignorant about of this principle.
The main focus is repentance, faith, and continued fealty to God the Father, through, our Savior, Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God.
Thank you for the clarification.
Source? Link? Generalized statements are not convincing without them.
I think your poor little mind can’t comprehend the necessity of a unique yet diverse creator as a precondition for creation. You might want to spend some time pondering the word universe.
Angels will never attain mortality. They don’t have souls - only men do. When we go to heaven - the mortal will take on immortality. You err in your belief that we are brothers to spiritual angels. When we become born again - our spirit and God’s spirit become one. We never become angels and angels will never be able to partake in redemption. Its apparent that you don’t understand truth. I’m not attacking you - just trying to straighten you out on your theology, which is in error and false.
When you talk about the blood of Christ - you aren’t referring to the shed blood on the cross. You are referring to the drops of blood that Jesus shed while praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, where he was greatly stressed because He knew the suffering which lay ahead of Him. It was there that He asked the Father if it be possible that the cup of suffering be removed, but He knew the Father’s will and so became obedient to it.
I don’t think either is Christian.
