The largest demographic of Obama's religious coalition supporters is made up of those who have stated they are not affiliated with a religion. The Public Religion Research Institute's 'American Values Survey' pegs that number to be approximately 23%. The largest percentage that supported Mitt Romney came from white, evangelical Protestants, at 37%.
The survey also revealed that Obama supporters are younger, more diverse and more accepting of growing minority groups. Compared to the older, largely Caucasian and fundamentally religious group that supported the Republican candidate, analysts are predicting the demographic supporting Obama will translate into more wins for the Democrats in future elections.
The survey also highlighted that out of the nearly 20% of the US population that identify as religiously unaffiliated 93% of them were raised in religious homes. This points to a significant trend in the younger demographic moving away from organized religion, or religion altogether.
The 20% figure represents roughly 105 million United States citizens. Using that figure, approximately twenty-five million still identified as religious, but do not belong to a religion. Approximately forty-one million are secularists, or not religious at all. Almost thirty-eight million identify as specifically atheist or agnostic, which translates to approximately 12.5% of the entire US population.
Trending, unbelievers are the fastest growing demographic .
Other findings in the survey point to about ninety percent of atheists and agnostics supporting marriage equality and that religiously affiliated hospitals and colleges should be required to provide health plans that cover contraception and birth control at no cost.
They aren't "Religiously Unaffiliated", they worship Hussein, which is to say they're devil worshipers.
Fools!
Not believing in God leaves a vacuum and there’s always someone willing to fill the void.
This doesn’t surprise me at all!!!!
We should include Unitarians in that number as they are definitely NOT religiously affiliated.
‘’Godless Communist’’ is not an oxymoron.

Nonsense. They are affiliated with a religion. It’s called Nihilism.
Latino Catholics were so significant that e'en tho white Catholics went Romney 59-40% (Pew Forum exit poll), the overall Catholic vote went to Obama (50-48%)
Latino Catholics were able to influence the overall Catholic vote more because Pew Forum cited a drop-off of white Catholic voters 'tween 2008 and 2012.
I estimated the rough numbers of that...and it looks like 2 million less white Catholics voted in 2012 than in 2008. [Some of that you can write off as some dying 'tween them and now...& not being replaced by younger voters who failed to register or turn out]
Alternate title: “Heathens, Dictators and Terrorists Support B.Hussein Obama”.
To Berlin Freeper: I like that@

Very clear, no ambiguities.
What can we get from OBAMA? “MOAB”? “MOB” (as in Marxist mob)? “OM” as in Alan Ginsburg’s stupid chants? or, drum-roll - “BM”.
Very interesting statistics! Can you post the link ... it would be helpful on other threads. Thanks for the post, ping and link.
Not really surprised. Latino Catholics might as well belong to a different church. In most parishes they only go to the “Spanish Mass” and have nothing to do with the rest of us. They usually have a dedicated priest and their own social groups that participate in orthogonal and non-overlapping events.
Their religion is LIBERALISM!!!!!! Their Sacrament is ABORTION!!!! And the cherry on top is GAY MARRIAGE!!! Oh, and FREEBIES......I detest these people.
CNN was gleaned yesterday from their "ticker" running across bottom of screen...but probably can be found @ their Web site.
Just posted a thread on Pew Forum exit polls on how the religious voted: How the Faithful Voted: 2012 Preliminary Analysis [Evang. up; other Prot. + white Catholics down]
Can click on Pew Forum link there...
I also observe that the if we get away from spurious divisions, the largest group forming the 0bamorrhoid 0rder would be Protestants (42%). Non-affiliated would still be 23%, Catholics would be 22%.
Hmmmmm ....
My guess would be that up to half of these are minority voters...Black Protestants supported Obama about 95-5%
CNN said the white (non-Evangelical) Protestant vote was 57-42% Romney...
