If I was not to vote for those with heretical theology, I’d have to sit out a lot of elections.

As if we have people out there concerned about "comprehensive theological alignment" 'tween candidates & voters...

Show me who...where...

#1...We're talking about a key character issue for THE leader of the free world vs. ...say...by contrast...your local dog-catcher...

With your local dog-catcher, you can afford to have one who is gullible/vulnerable to deception. With THE leader of the free world, sorry...standards need to be a wee bit higher...(Even with Mitt, if he was the local dog-catcher, he didn't show much discernment putting a dog on top of his car for a cross-country vacation trip)

Discernment is a key character trait.

#2...Allow me to also highlight a difference of "identity" discernment ... weighing a temple Mormon (like Romney) ... who are 15-20% of the Lds population...vs. a non-temple Mormon like most Mormons.

A non-temple Mormon has NO CHANCE of becoming a "god." He doesn't presume to "ID" himself as "divine."

Romney has a basic arrogant identity disorder as somebody who thinks he's a "god in embryo."

You don't have to weigh a given candidate's comprehensive theology; if they think they're divine, that alone is a pretty good indicator that they have MAJOR basic discernment issues.

Finally, most candidates of any given political race don't go 'round and try to alienate their base by referencing them as apostates; as "corrupt" professors of what they believe; and as people who embrace 100% abominable creeds.

Well, Lds "scriptures" teach that; so unless a given Lds candidate has tossed the Pearl of Great Price mormon "scripture" under the bus, 'tis not very inspirational to the "base" that candidate is appealing to re: hearing that Candidate A thinks they are "corrupt"...and that 100% of their faith creeds are putrid (abomination).

Major part of the article is about theology. And isn't your whole opposition ultimately grounded in his theology?

Mormon theology is heretical to the Church. So are a lot of protestant's theology, perhaps even yours. I could question their discernment as well.

Study 'theosis' in the Eastern Orthodox Church. You likely would think it heretical to your beliefs. It's not to mine. And on and on.

I wish Mitt was a member of the Church. At least his running mate is. Romney is a good and decent and moral man. He's a competent and accomplished leader. He believes in the free enterprise system and American exceptionalism. These are the kinds of traits I look for in a president. He could even be a Calvinist, heaven forbid, and I'd still support him.

But, most important, Romney is the only man who can remove this regime from power. I'll enthusiastically support him - and live with his heretical theology.

I think acting in ways that help Obama stay in power, such as voting third party, is heading towards the low ground, morally and on principle.
