Evangelist Billy Graham commended Mitt Romney for his values and moral convictions after meeting with the GOP presidential candidate at his North Carolina home on Thursday.
"What impresses me even more than Governor Romney's successful career are his values and strong moral convictions," Graham said in a statement. "I appreciate his faithful commitment to his impressive family, particularly his wife Ann of 43 years and his five married sons."
Graham, 93, said he was friends with Romney's late father, former Michigan Governor George Romney, and has followed the younger Romney's career.
The beloved evangelist, who has preached the Gospel to more people in live audiences than anyone else in history, prayed with Romney, a Mormon.
"It was a privilege to pray with Governor Romney for his family and our country," he stated.
"I will turn 94 the day after the upcoming election, and I believe America is at a crossroads. I hope millions of Americans will join me in praying for our nation and to vote for candidates who will support the biblical definition of marriage, protect the sanctity of life and defend our religious freedoms."
Graham has been described as the "pastor to presidents" as he has been a friend to every U.S. president since Harry Truman. He met with President Obama in 2010 and prayed with him. Graham also gave Obama two Bibles.
Just another photo op for Obama.
I don’t get what you mean.
This is going to relieve a boatload of Evangelicals and it is going to really tick off the anti-Mormon ‘Christians’ here on FR.
Billy Graham is impressed with Romney’s values favoring abortion in cases when the mother feels that he health would be problem is she had the baby?
From Billy Grahams prayerful lips to Gods ears. May the mantle of the true presidency be passed onto Romney as the humble request.
Just another wonderfully stupid comment from the ABR crowd. Guess you missed the part of the story where they point out Obama has met with him in 2010.
Romney or Obama will be President.
Romney has promised to rescind the Executive Order issued by President Obama authorizing US Taxpayer fund to pay for overseas abortions.
By that single action alone President Romney would reduce the number of abortions.
NO true life voter can think Obama would be better for the Pro Life cause then Romney.
Cue up the little girl in the movie Poltergeist: "They're HEE-ur".
The good reverend Graham gave BHusseinO TWO Bibles, eh? What a shame “you can lead a camel to water but you can’t make him drink!” (Or something like that)

Yep, and immediately after your post, the first among them checked in!
Billy Graham issued a statement after meeting with President Obama today at his home:
“I am pleased to have had President Obama in my home this afternoon,” said Mr. Graham. “He requested a meeting since he was spending the weekend nearby in Asheville. My son Franklin and I enjoyed a brief visit with the President, followed by a time of prayer together.
“As we approach the National Day of Prayer on May 6,” Mr. Graham added, “I want to encourage Christians everywhere to pray for our President, and for all those in positions of authority, and especially for the men and women serving in our military.”
After leading a prayer for the Republican nominee, Graham told Romney, “I’ll do all I can to help you. And you can quote me on that.”
Quite a difference.
Is the driver a guy or girl? The one in the back is holding onto his/her boobs!
Well .. I’m a Christian .. but I’m not Anti-Mormon.
To be Anti-Mormon, you have to believe the Mormons are a cult. Not possible. If you think they are, then you need to study a little harder and find out what a real CULT is .. and it’s NOT Mormon.
The Mormons have some weird ritualistic stuff they do - which they believe in. People do leave the Mormon faith all the time. Nobody forces them to go or stay.
Secondly, the Catholics have their weird ritualistic stuff they do - which they believe in. But .. it’s no more weird than what the Mormons do.
Then we have the Evangelicals .. they certainly do some weird stuff some time. But .. it’s this group especially that gets the nasty treatment .. because most people have never taking the time to find out what Evangelicals really believe.
I remember when I was in scouting and we would go on weekend camping trips. They would always make arrangements for the Catholic kids to attend church - but not make any arrangements for the Prostestant kids. I wanted to attend church, so I pretended to be Catholic so I could go to church. It never forced me to change my beliefs.
To say that Romney’s Mormon faith is going to change the other faiths of this nation (or the world) is just IGNORANT.
I’ve never been to a Morman church - because you have to be a member to go there. However, I have worked in a facility where there were Mormon residents - and both they and their families were no different in their love and concern for their family member.
I think it’s time to grow up and stop this petty squabling over somebody’s type of faith .. it’s better to understand the dangers of Islam (and the Muslim Brotherhood) and how they plan (and always have planned) to take over the world. If you don’t believe that .. then read Mark Steyn’s book, “America Alone” and you get the real truth about a “faith” you should be afraid of.
Doubt it, anyone who knows Billy is not surprised.
Perhaps you’d like to point out a few of these anti-MORMON Christians? ... I know several anti-MormonISM Christians at FR, but ...
Not me, MH. They know who they are.
