God has defined marriage as one man and one woman.
Because He did not strike these OT people down with a ball of fire, is not the same as saying God did not have a problem with it.
In addition, historical reference is important. Many times when an enemy was defeated it was not uncommon for the victor to take the defeated enemy’s wives as his own, it was symbolic not necessarily carnal.
If God struck down everyone who sins, there would be no one left, it doesn’t mean He is ok with the sin.
Nice try. You best go read the O.T. again. He even told Hosea to go marry a whore. Not justifying polygamy or whoredoms; just sayin’ .
I think the point he was making is that in these accounts, you don’t read about God mentioning He has a problem with them having more than one wife, but you do have prophets and such going after the very same guys for other sins, calling them to task. We’re not talking about them having to be struck down, the topic of multiple wives isn’t referenced at all, when it easily could have been, given what they were being admonished for. It even goes to the point they get on the cases of kings for having foreign wives that lead them astray to false gods, but they never tackle the fact he has multiple wives in the first place.
God has defined marriage as one man and one woman.
Sounds like your rewritting the Bible! God is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Two of the three (most likely all three) were confirmed polygamists. Isreal was started in polygamy!
Not that I’m trying to defend polygamy, but I get a little tired of you sanctimoniously changing religious history to promote your religious beliefs.
At least the LDS church claims revelation. When your Emperor Constantine decided to change Gods relationship with Jesus Christ and then coerce it on Christianity at the Council of Nicea ... THEY DIDN’T EVEN CLAIM REVELATION.
Of course ... you don’t mind that obvious usurpation by Man of God’s Gospel ..... you just hypocritcally accuse others of doing it when thier interpretations don’t fit yours.
Why don’t you follow Christ and cast out the 2x4 beam in your own eye before trying to get slivers out of mine?
Is that too much to ask? That you actually incorporate the teachings of Jesus Christ instead of castigating others because they don’t believe in your biblical distortions?
