I hadn't thought of that. I think of gum as a piece of trash, rather than as a food product.
We had a priest (now retired) who would see things from the pulpit and mention them after Mass.
One was about chewing gum and a new Catholic (same RCIA class as mine) came up to me and said “he’s talking about me.” She never did it again. lol
