I have been looking for a church as well and was heavily considering the Catholic church, but in learning of how liberal even many freeper Catholics are, I am having doubts about the Catholic denomination, I am a conservative, and I just keep seeing too many red flags, too much liberalism, and something different than the holy spirit.

I pray you will find the choice for yourself. There is liberalism in all churches, in all branches. I guess you have to find for yourself, in your soul, where the right fit is. I found it in the Catholic Church. The Spirit will lead you to where you need to be, if you just let Him.

ansell, may I recommend finding a Catholic church that offers the Traditional Mass (TLM)?

I don’t know where you live or I could direct you to one of those parishes. Since the Holy Father’s 2007 restoration of the TLM, the parishes offering it have sprung up like wildflowers. For the most part, the people who attend these Masses and the priests who celebrate them are solid Conservatives. In fact, on the week after Obamalamadingdong won the election, my priest said this from the pulpit: “Our country has suffered a catastrophe. We must fight him at every turn.”

If applause wasn’t wholly inapropriate during Mass (and it IS inappropriate), Father would have had a rousing standing ovation on that line alone, nevermind the rest of his homily, which was riveting.

As for the topic at hand...I’ve had a big problem with a LOT of the stuff posing as Catholic Doctrine that comes out of the USCCB. This is no exception. While God does indeed command us to care for the sick, clothe the poor, etc., He never EVER said we should be forced to do so at the point of a sword. In fact, the way I see it, if you have to be FORCED to do it...it doesn’t mean very much, does it? It certainly isn’t charity.

Hopefully, the bishops MAY be starting to understand that getting into bed with the “progressive” wing of the government wasn’t such a great idea after all. We shall see if they learn their lesson from all of this.

Regards,
