HUGE news from Logos Bible Software today: they’ve premempted the USCCB in making the first ever Catechism of the Catholic Church mobile application. It’s available on iPad, iPhone, and Android devices and comes with all of Logos’ awesome features–internal cross-referencing, pop-out excerpts, Scriptural links, and a whole lot more.

Here’s a video showing the Logos’ Catechism app in action on desktop computers. The mobile version functions similarly:

According to Logos:

“With the Catechism of the Catholic Church Collection, thousands of the Catechism’s citations come alive—linking to the original documents. The Collection allows you to get behind the Catechism’s summary of the faith and into the primary sources themselves. The Collection includes the most important texts cited by the Catechism and so allows one to see not just what the contemporary Catholic Church teaches, but what it bases this teaching on.

Just one man’s opinion, but Logos is the BEST Bible study software out there. I wish they would export their engine into the academic market and start publishing text books.

As a Logos user and a Catholic, while this may be nice, it is far less expensive to purchase a paperback copy of the Catechism than to pay several hundred dollars for a Logos subscription. Unless one is a frequent Bible user, there is no reason to purchase Logos. Plus, there is the matter that the vast majority of Catholics do not own or read the Catechism.

Isn’t this available somewhere on a website for free?

"I wish they would export their engine into the academic market and start publishing text books."

They have to some extent - check out their product "Vyrso." That's exactly what this product is attempting to do. As the catalogue of resources (ie books) gets larger this is what "Vyros" will be. I agree that Logos is the best, most powerful, bible and theological software out there but it does have a steep learning curve to really use effectively.
