A dress code is not a requirement for salvation.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Indeed it isn't.

But...The behavior I copied from the lead thread is certainly not the way to win friends, influence people, and have success in this temporal world regarless of the religion.

What? Purple hair and visible tatoos? Answering a cell phone in during a church service? Deliberately and unnecessarily wear clothing that a person **knows** will be provocative and irritating to others?

I don't see this a prescription for success. If it does happen it will be in spite of this list of behaviors, certainly not because of it.

You are speaking of success in THIS world, I frankly do not CARE about success in this world, nor to most Christians.

We are to be IN the world, not of it. God doesn’t care what we wear to church, He cares where our heart is. Our church takes all. I have seen GANG Members throw down their colors and cry at an altar call when they accepted Christ. And, yes, they did leave the gangs.

And when I was TEACHING at a private Christian High School, I had ‘vampire red’ hair. The kids loved it and related to me and listened to me more than the other teachers because they felt I understood them better.

You seem to care more about what is on the outside, than the inside and that is sad.

FTR, my best friend NEVER did drugs, I have never seen her have more than one drink an evening (and even that is rare) in the 10 years I have known her, she works 2 and sometimes 3 jobs to take care of her invalid mother, squeezes church and charity work in between those jobs and is one of the most generous people I know even BEFORE she was a Christian.

Now, she is even more so and what changed aside from her beliefs (she was an atheist), is her motivation. She now does it solely for the glory of God.

This is the Religion Forum. The behavior you note does not in any way prevent someone from knowing God and being saved.

The list is satire on the legalistic attitude of the mormon church.

In case you aren't aware of this, mormonism teaches that the ONLY way to salvation is to take part in arcane rituals in mormon temples. An interview with a bishop is required to attain a "ticket" for entry into these temples.

The behavior you copied from the lead thread is certainly not the way to get a "ticket to salvation, mormon-style", therefore the outward appearance of a seeker would overwhelm the inward desire for a relationship with Jesus.

Sorry that message doesn't appear to reach you.
