“We did tear down a wall and found syringes/needles and old, dried up pot.”

YIKES!

I thought my mummified rat was a real big deal!

You win!

It’s not stunningly beautiful by any stretch of the imagination.

The family that had it for a very long time [my step-grandfather’s people] were infamously lax about maintenance.

It could be restored to a lovely log house but I’ll never be able to afford that.

An Ibizan Hound friend has a similar place and it cost tens of thousands of dollars back in the 80s.

The cost of re-chinking and re-mortaring the logs alone is insane.

A lot of houses in our neighborhood has the same items found. I am guessing there was a lot of heroin those days. Beer cans/alcohol bottles were common as well but I sort of get that.

Few people ever get to live in a house full of so much history... in this case, it is family history. You do the best you can with what you have and can afford. It may never be sparkly new but sparkly new wouldn’t look right anyways. IMHO... I am sure there are days you would disagree with me. LOL
