Did they ask about mosque attendance? I understand Maine has a growing Somali population.

We could use some in New Hampshire, too.

I went to a funeral recently at a funeral home - the deceased was not a church goer - where the minister was an African man. He had a very thick African accent, rather like I remember a Nigerian classmate in College having. I believe he was from a UCC church.

Maine is about as socialist as you get, Vermont would be the most socialist.

“Salvation in the 21st century is being a good human being,” he said.

He pointed to rock star Bono, former President Jimmy Carter and celebrities such as Angelina Jolie and her partner, Brad Pitt, as people who exemplify that trend.

Well, well, well.....

China and South Korea for that matter...

Meanwhile, in secular Europe, a lot of the missionaries (both Catholic and Protestant) preaching the Christian gospel and pastoring churches in places like France and Germany are ( get this ) AFRICANS... Go figure...

It’s like kids who won’t listen to their parents, but might listen to someone else. If it takes an outside to reach the lost; God bring them.

Formerly the two most Republican states in the Union (the only ones voting against FDR in 1936).

Unrelated Maine factoid:

Did you know that the governor of Maine is required to be a NBC? (at least according to this book)

And how do they define NBC? Would a man like Marco Rubio qualify?

“Salvation in the 21st century is being a good human being,” he said.

Best wishes with that...

Acts 4 New International Version

8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Rulers and elders of the people!

9If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed,

10then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.

11He is “the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone."

12Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

In 2010, Maine elected a Republican governor and majority Republican legislature.

The gnashing of teeth and wailing by the moonbats here is deafening.

Wasn’t northern New England once dominated by the Congregationalists — the United Church of Christ? All the lovely country churches that used to be featured on post cards from New England were Congregational churches, I think. These were the descendants of the Puritans. Ofthen their church was in the center of every town in northern New England.

It could be that collapse of the backbone denomination of the region that is behind this decline in church-going. The UCC has imploded theologically and embraced looney left politics and same sex marriage (but I repeat myself). So, I would guess people in the pews just walked away from that nonsense over the generations, leaving children unchurched.

Let’s hope Main goes Republican again in 2012 — then the gnashing of teeth and wailing will become even more deafening. It will be music to my ears.

I went to a funeral recently at a funeral home - the deceased was not a church goer - where the minister was a woman. I found it depressing. Nothing she could say would make any difference in the deceased person’s final destination.
