I’m sure there is a mix of both sorts, but in many cases it is hard to tell the difference—which is why the Obama team can employ the tactic. Look at the Liberty University controversy as an example. If the administration can be believed, a large portion of the protestors aren’t even part of the university.

If you have 50,000 protestors [I'm making up #s here...'cause who knows how many there were] -- and a large portion "weren't part of the university" -- so what? (On more than one count)

If Liberty got thousands or tens of thousands of comments from both students AND alumni, then even from their own angle, tossing that "pie piece" comment into the pix is irrelevant.

Secondly, who cares what % of Evangelicals giving feedback to Liberty don't have a direct campus tie?

Mainstream Lds have rebuked and ignored the fLDS for physical polygamy [even tho the mainstream Lds currently believe in other-colony polygamy and future physical polygamy]. If you don't think that Evangelicals have a right to critique other Evangelicals, then you should jump all over the mainstream LDS -- who think they have a "right" to critique fLDS.
