Every time I read verse 2, I wonder at the artists in our history that seem always to paint Him as a handsome man. I would picture him more like Jack Palance than Jeffery Hunter.

It seems to me that Jesus really wasn't a stand-out as far as appearance goes. The night he was betrayed, the arrest party couldn't just go and detain "the big, tall one" (as centuries before, Saul would have been identified) or "that ruddy, handsome guy" (which is how His ancestor David would have been described.)
Judas actually had to go up and single him out with a traitor's kiss to make sure the posse didn't pick up the wrong guy.
