Was that map connected to the data given out with the article we are discussing? I only ask since there have been several persons who think that the red areas are Eastern Orthodox and perhaps should be considered Catholic. But I'm thinking the map was just showing countries for which they have determined suicide rates but had nothing to do with religion.

Since the USSR has only recently become unshackled from hard core communism and its attendent secular atheism,I would imagine that there is little way to ascertain what religious preferences people are claiming at this point.

Can you shed more light on this subject?Thanks.

The map charted countries with annual suicide rates. I leave it to the viewers to look up areas with majorities of the respective religions - Catholic, Protestant, Islamic, Buddhist, etc., and compare that data with this map.
