Issue #3 - The Biblical Basis for the Catholic teaching concerning the Real Presence in the Holy Eucharist.

Arguing a biblical basis for the real presence is no legitimate reason for rejecting the Roman Catholic Church. In reality, there is little difference between trans-substantiation, spiritual presence, and con-substantiation.

Paul clearly says, in 1 Co 11:29 For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.

And yet the rabid, parti-hued haters do just that Padre. Sad but true.

Indeed, whether one sees it as transubstantiation, consubstantiation, remembrance - or whether one is observing the bread and wine on a Jewish Sabbath - what is happening is not entirely physical. Nor, in my view, was this bread and wine observance entirely physical:

And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he [was] the priest of the most high God. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed [be] Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all. – Genesis 14:18

Thank you for sharing your insights, dear brother in Christ!
