So, it doesn't matter how you live from now on, you are saved and will go to heaven. Is that right?
I was taught that we are sinners. We sin a lot. I try not to, but I do. How can one be saved when one continues to sin? One sins again and again and one must be forgiven again and again. It's not a "one-shot, does all" kind of grace.
Where does it say that ALL sins are washed away, past, present and future with just saying "I BELIEVE!" just once and that's it? Wow. That's easy. One sentence of belief and one is saved NO MATTER WHAT ONE DOES in the future.
So, you are saved and if you commit murder tomorrow, that's okay because you are still saved. If that's so, then why be good in the future when you are saved NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO because of what you said in that past about believing and being "washed" in Christ's blood? Makes NO sense to me, but then, I'm a Catholic.
Jesus gave the apostles the authority to forgive sins in His name: whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven; whose sins you shall retain they are retained. Thus we/I go to confession for the absolution Jesus promised us.
THEN we go to communion to eat of His Body. NO HUMAN I know is "good to go" after just ONE washing NO MATTER what s/he does in the future. Makes no sense to me. But then, I'm Catholic.
You Protestants get to interpret the Scripture ANY WAY YOU WANT so it's no surprise that there were/are over 40,000 different denominations of Protestantism. You can believe whatever YOU want as to what the Scripture means...interpretation du jour as YOU like and YOU see it, whatever YOU want it to mean. We Catholics have it interpreted for us by the Church through the last 2000 years of existence.
I'm going with the 2000-year-old Church, not the ones founded after Father Martin Luther started the ball rolling with the next 40,000+ Protestant denominations of Christianity.
I don't really believe that Jesus intended there to be 40,000+ different denominations of Christianity. That is just MY opinion.
I will make a point to look you up after we are both dead. We can compare notes.
I don’t seem to recall Christ saying anything about the Vatican. And I’ll tell you one more time, You are no judge of whether or not I’m a Catholic. No one on this Earth is.
WOW, that would mean reciting a biblical passage from Luke over 1 million times....God will be impressed!!!
As I said...Jesus often chose not to pursue people who misunderstood what He had to say.
It was kind and brave of you to share your conversion beliefs in the catholic church and its salvific mission. I’d like everyone here to know and remember that there IS unity in all believers of the trinity, father, son and holy ghost. The catholic church acknowledges all christian baptisms;ie. If someone was baptized in the trinity and if he converts to catholocism-that person doesn’t need to be re baptized. One of my favorite and most treasured books is ‘Why I Became a Catholic’ by israel zolli. He was chief rabbi of rome during world war 2. Another book I recommend which no one brought up is Aa-1025 by marie caree. It is about the memoirs of an anti apostle.it describes the lengths communists went thru in their efforts to undermine the catholic church, and how they infiltrated it. Many blessings to all.
It is plainly the body and blood of Jesus Christ as anyone who believes can clearly understand. The simple reason is because the Bible tells me so. Moreover, I understand what the Church means by "substance".
So what you are saying is a priest has the power to retain sin? How can a sinner forgive sin in the first place? If you believe in Christ you are saved for eternity.
God said he does not change, then why has the Catholic Church changed its position many many times?
That is true thanks largely to the converts and reverts and those who believed in the Church in spite of those who infiltrated and corrupted it.
So true. It's not dependent on my fickle choice which can change many times.
It's dependent on the faith which God Himself plants in the heart and He pre-destined this before the earth was founded as Eph 1 so clearly states.
Funny how the doctrine is so adamantly defended as literal, but when objective fact is observed then basic terms are suddenly redefined with amazing semantic creativity.
Thank God, we cleared that up. I thought you were accusing the Catholics of babbling like the pagans.
>> “The Catholic church existed for 1,500 years before the revolution took place” <<
.
The “catholic church” was founded in the 4th century, by pharisees that wanted to reclaim their power and influence. That is why catholicism is a nearly exact image of pharisaical Judaism, including the departure from scripture with man made traditions, and the thuggery of the false priesthood.

The Vatican is only an address. Jesus referred to His Church frequently.
Satan believes in Christ, Lucifer and the fallen angels believe in Christ....
Christ gave us a template example, with no sense of “these words with little/no variation”. He also condemned wanton repetition.
There are 150 Psalms. We are not directed to stick to a half dozen of the more repetitive ones, and certainly not to repeat one on the order of hours.
If you repeate a Psalm over and over thinking God will like you better because you said it 50 times instead of once, then yes that is a vain repitition.
