What does ancestry.com have to do with it? I’m honestly curious becauseI have used ancestry.com for fun, and I’d like to know if it meant some Mormon dedided to get dunked for one of my ancestors.
The reason Ancestry.com encourages non-LDS to use the site and submit info is specifically to get more info to do their temple work for the dead (Baptism, endowments, sealings).
Also, beware, Mormons are notoriously sloppy when submitting info. I found that out when I took a semester long genealogy class at BYU.
The site is run and maintained by the LDS they use the info to baptize the dead
All the major genealogy sites and databases are run by the Mormons. It seemed odd to me at Furst, before I knew about this baptizing the dead practice. Now it all makes total sense. They cull the data bases that unknowing people have input their family info on, and voila! Great great grandaddy who died in Poland or India in 1860 was baptized a Mormon.
Very insidious and loathsome practice.
