CHANTILLY, Virginia, January 25, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) A Catholic parish in Virginia has banned local Girl Scout troops from parish facilities and the adjacent school over the international bodys ties to the Planned Parenthood abortion business.
St. Timothy Catholic Parish in Chantilly says Girl Scouts will not be permitted to meet or wear uniforms on church property, including at St. Timothy School, which covers preschool to grade 8.
The Girl Scouts have been under growing pressure as evidence mounts of their ties with Planned Parenthood, the worlds largest abortion provider.
In June, Bishop James Conley of Denver warned that participation in the Girl Scouts risks opening young women to the pro-abortion agenda because of the organizations approach to sexuality and reproductive freedom.

This should get media attention as it is in the Washington, DC area.
It is also very close to Human Life International headquarters.
Prolife ping.
unlike the rock ribbed moral BSA.
the GSA have gone over to the dark side, when it comes to immoral leftist agenda.
They should ban them just for the confiscatory pricing on those little Altoids-size cookie boxes.
Isn’t that Santorum’s DC parish?
It’s a funny thing: in my day (the late 50s), Catholics (probably of a certain ethnic origin if I have my guess) were discouraged from joining the Girl Scouts as it was considered...a Protestant organization, lol. So I never got to wear the cute uniform or learn how to make a fire. Maybe my crazy family were on to something...
Interesting comment as I’m similar age.
In Catholic grade school they told us we couldn’t go to the YMCA because it was run by Protestants.
Then I got to Catholic high school and the swim team did all their practices at the YMCA, LOL.
Yes! My mom was not too crazy when I would stop in at our local YMCA just to look around, lol! Funny old world - long gone for better or for worse.
This seems like a good move.
Define "very close" ...
Catholic girls are not missing anything by not being in the Girl Scouts. My experience with it involved exposure to sexualized information and that was being delivered by women who were militantly lesbian.
Our parish dropped the Girl Scouts several years ago and has the American Heritage Girls now.
Closer than Richmond is to the Virginia suburbs. But it may be about 50 miles or more, give or take. Maybe I need to look up the exact distance...
If HLI is still in Front Royal, it’s a little over an hour drive.
And long ago.
Chantilly is due west of DC via route 50, near the Dulles International Airport, about 20 miles from the Capitol building. It is not too far outside the DC Beltway, a hair north of 9:00 o’clock. Not near Richmond at all.
