ive never heard of 'Desert Fathers' either. 'pharisaical rationalists'?? pharisaical as in 'sitting in the seat of Moses'? :-)

Evangelical scriptural interpretation is rooted in Medieval Nominalism, which is the root of all subsequent rationalism.

Luther and all of the Reformers were schooled in it and passed their assumptions about reality onto their heirs.

Read about William of Ockham. All of the Protestant Solas are deeply rooted in his philosophy and were projected on the Bible by Luther, et. al.

Your response to the article shows me that it went over your head.

Protestants know what the Bible says, but whether they understand its meaning is another story.
