Sounds like traddies are insufferable snobs.

Other comment: I wonder if the public will go “Oh, Santorum. He’s an extreme trad guy like Mel Gilbson. Probably messed up like him, too.”

Personally, I like Santorum, admire his family, and think a bunch of happy kids in the White House is a good thing.

I don’t think he will win, though.

Some can be. The ‘Traddies’ in our parish are the ones that ONLY attend the TLM. While they are not snobs, they do hold a certain attitude when it comes to the liturgy. You just avoid talking about it. Some people will attend the TLM or the many NOs we have. They will tell you their preference but aren’t firm about the TLM being better than the NO. We are ‘traddies’ with a small ‘t’. We like the traditions, receive communion on the tongue, kneeling and by intinction. No handholding, not orans. We are a historically Catholic church.

Now, before the TLM was given the ok from the Vatican, those churches who DID hold a TLM (against the Vatican ruling) were Traddies with a capital T. We have an “Independent Catholic” community in our area. I went to their bookstore a few years ago to buy a Baltimore Catechism. It was like walking into 1964. They had a school and a seminary. The girls skirts were mid calf and the nuns were in FULL habits. They opened a gate to let me in and it was by appointment only. It was strange but everyone there seemed happy. However they were NOT in communion with the Pope.

Your Mel Gibson comment is EXACTLY what I thought. They are trying to make Santorum “irregular”. And actually, he would be just one of the gang at my parish.
