The Church has never retracted the teachings in this book. The “internal forum” or conscience of those who are involved is very important. The Priest only OBSERVES the Sacrament, it is, in fact PERFORMED by the bride and groom.
More to the point: Those involved have the greatest insight on if, in fact, the “marriage” was valid or not.
A formal Annulment process can cause great harm, in situations were abuse, alcoholism or drug abuse, or mental illness is involved.
Hossie teaches that it is possible to remarry, if, in fact, you truly believe the original wedding produced an invalid marriage.
Hossie has never been contradicted by the Church.
Holy Communion is freely available to divorced Catholics.
