Just one more point on this. If even after we have said that theology was the reason we left the Roman Catholic Church and NOT the issue of contraception, you STILL refuse to accept it. Why not ask instead, if the Catholic Church changed its doctrine on contraception, would you come back to it? My answer would be NO, it was not why I left in the first place and would not be adequate to draw me back. Now if they reverted back to the Gospel of salvation by grace through faith like Scripture teaches and the early church believed, I might.
“If even after we have said that theology was the reason we left the Roman Catholic Church and NOT the issue of contraception, you STILL refuse to accept it.”
Where did I say that you left because of what you believe on contraception? Never said that. I listed 5 reasons and the reason you cited was number 5, of which contraception is a subset.
I guess the other question is if your church that you now attend took the Catholic teachings on contraception would you still attend?
Exactly. The RCC could change it’s position on a whole slew of subjects that involve the morals that Catholics claim I *had to* have left for and I would still not go back.
And besides, as someone pointed out elsewhere, it’s be pretty hard to out liberal the Catholic church in way too many areas.
The only areas they’d officially proved themselves to be extremely conservative are the pro-life and homosexual agenda areas.
But looking at the voting records of those Catholics who I personally know from what they’ve told me themselves..... pfffftttt..... Liberal to the core.
