You Catholics believe Christ died only for Catholics... Christ died and rose from the dead over 2,000 years ago for the un-conditional forgiveness of all sins for all people of ALL TIME, anyone at any time who has the faith of Christ and believes in His Redemption is declared a believer-saint.

They have always been around, since the first century.

They finally desired so much to read the scriptures and worship God simply and faithfully (with out a lot of trappings devised by men) that they split from the church of that period.

There is only one holy and catholic church and it is made up of all believers/followers of Jesus Christ.

It is not the denominational Catholic church as it is just one of many Christian denominations.

In a sense there were always “protestants”......they were being killed by rulers - secular and religious. You can read all about it in Foxes Book of Martyrs.
