Actually, at that point, I don't consider that it's *fellow Christians* who are making the attacks.
There are a handful of Catholics who post here who are reasonable and courteous and whom I would definitely conclude have truly put their faith in Christ, in spite of their Catholicism, not because of it.
But then again, they don't resort to infantile, repetitive posting of images and mockery and derision. They are ones with whom you can agree to disagree and at least make some kind of effort to try to understand our objections to Catholicism.
My neighbors on both sides and across the street are Catholic. They’re fine people for the most part, they’re not like this. My former business partner and friend of 25 years is Catholic. Aww, so sad - those Catholics don't know to tip their hats at the Protestant overlords whenever they deign to walk by. It doesn't matter that the Protestant pantheon is, on its fringes, become more pagan than anything that rolled out of Africa in the distant past.
No, what matters is the distant remembrance of those days when Calvinist Protestant denominations ruled America and Catholics and Baptists and Quakers cringed when the masters passed. Why can't the Protestants put the Catholics back down on the plantation where they behaved themselves? Why can't the Catholics accept the fact that they are second rate, second class and, oh, just not worthy? Why do Catholics have to remind everyone that the Protestant Revolution's spawned promulgation of all the first millennium's heresies and most of the minor ones? Oh, for the heady heydays when Thomas Nast ruled the editorial cartoon:
