Oh I have a lot of problems theologically with what you posted. I was talking about the wiki article, what it said I agreed with, and so would most freepers

Dominionism is a term used to describe politically active conservative Christians that are believed to conspire and seek influence or control over secular civil government through political action, especially in the United States, with the goal of either a nation governed by Christians, or a nation governed by a conservative Christian understanding of biblical law.

I thought you were referring to the link I posted, which was not wiki.

Thanks for that link, which I will read shortly.

I'm becoming convinced that a bunch of SSPX, sedevacantists, sundry schismatics and radical "traditionalists" have allied themselves and pounced on the FR religion forum as a soapbox to honk loud, long and often about how only they are The One, True, Holy And Apostolic Catholic Church, not to but at anyone, including obedient Catholics who recognize and submit to the authority of Vatican II. A sect screaming about the invalidity of any other sect than their own while deigning to detect just that behavior in all others, in other words. Fealty to Rome, but only in theory and certainly not that bunch.

That's who is attacking fellow Christians with false accusations and lurid little photos that some dusty, deranged, outré clerical hermit apparently thought appropriate and amusing. Several of them are clearly not even in the United States and have hostility toward it and to us as Americans, and a barely constrained desire for monarchy, under their church perfected in the image of their sect, of course.

There was a time when I supported them in their desire to turn their church around, given the blatant immorality on display with no apparent institutional means of ridding themselves of it, but there has just been too much smearing and false accusation being slung around. I'm beginning to think I was wrong in that support, I'm afraid. Strange times we're living in. Strange people, too.

Good article from wiki.

Thanks.

I have friends who I see starting to be sucked in to this dominionism type thinking, which is becoming more prevalent amongst the Pentecostal/Charismatic churches.

CynicalBear (who calls Christmas AND Easter "pagan") says:
It would seem the weak understanding of scripture forces Catholics to use rather juvenile tactics and communication tools.

I tend to avoid pentecostal/charismatic churches so I really am not that familiar with current trends.

Oh yeah, and deniers of Christmas and Easter, whack-a-doodles abound on the ‘net. And I think “CatholicGuy” (long since banned) has reappeared to confuse coverts and others with a Vatican II is THE only answer approach to apologetics.

You either follow the Church that He Created or else you do not.

Christians follow Christ and He is the head of HIS Church where HIS WORD is the FINAL Authority.

No one is interested in your church with it's man-made belief system. So give it up because we are already spoken for....

"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My Hand.

"My Father, which gave them to Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's Hand.

"I and My Father are ONE.

“Christians follow Christ and He is the head of HIS Church where HIS WORD is the FINAL Authority.”

Yep, the One, Holy and Apostolic Catholic Church. Holding fast to the Truth and doing the Work of Our Lord since the Pentecost, all at the Direct Command of God.

Actually, at that point, I don't consider that it's *fellow Christians* who are making the attacks.

There are a handful of Catholics who post here who are reasonable and courteous and whom I would definitely conclude have truly put their faith in Christ, in spite of their Catholicism, not because of it.

But then again, they don't resort to infantile, repetitive posting of images and mockery and derision. They are ones with whom you can agree to disagree and at least make some kind of effort to try to understand our objections to Catholicism.

On the contrary, it’s because they are following the teachings of men, not the Bible.

If they were following Scripture, they wouldn’t be advocating something not taught in it.

“If they were following Scripture,...”

The Catholic Church, which predates scripture and codified scripture, follows Our Lord Jesus Christ. The idolatry inherent in Sola Scriptura is there for all to see.

My neighbors on both sides and across the street are Catholic. They’re fine people for the most part, they’re not like this. My former business partner and friend of 25 years is Catholic. He’s too genteel to have ever behaved in this manner even if he were three sheets to the wind, and so I suspect it doesn’t ever even enter his mind.

I don’t care for some of the things that the Roman Catholic Church proclaims infallibly as doctrine. I think they’re the schismatics, if you want to get right down to it. However, there are genuine Christians within her, I’ve known many. These folks we’ve tangled with are something else.

I grew up with and worked with Catholics like the ones on this board and found them to be the rule rather than the exception.

The Catholics in this little town we live in now are not like them at all.

I guess it depends on the area of the country you’re in.

Which is not true because they do not predate nor did they write the OT.

Another transparent misrepresentation of the facts by the RCC.

What a fail.

The truth is in Scripture.

The Catholic church claiming it wrote Scripture is just a naked attempt at a power grab, trying to claim control over the Word of God.

Buy the Catholic revisionist history if you will but don't expect anyone with any ability to think for themselves to not see the tactic for what it is.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Not a church, not sacraments, not confession, not works, not anything but Jesus.

You should try believing HIM for a change.
