A text without a context is a pretext.
I would need to see the book that was printed in 1964 that you mention and read it for myself to see the context of which you are referring. I cannot find this book's content online so I would like to be sure you are stating and quoting things correctly. After all, this is the Internet.

I have scanned some of the pages in and posted them before.
Let me see if I can find them.
The thing is a devotional. Those lines are on their own.
Each page has 10 or so lines/quotes of such stuff. They are just that . . . quotes from RC’s of the modern era and back several hundred years or more.
