Christmas Music Classics to share [Ecumenical thread]
various ^ | various | various

Posted on 12/01/2011 12:38:32 PM PST by Judith Anne

This thread is offered to all of us as a refuge from the usual Christmas conflict. Please post links to classical Christmas music, the more beautiful the better, that way we can come here, stop by to greet each other with peace in our hearts and leave the thread uplifted, perhaps with a song or piece of music we had not heard in a while.

Please let each song inspire a prayer for peace in your heart, and a blessing for fellow FReepers.

Wow! Thank you so much for posting all of those links to the Vatican music pages! I’m delighted that you found them to be worthwhile :-)

Angels We Have Heard on High - Andrea Bocelli and David Foster . So beautiful I had tears running down my face by the halfway point.

Oh, that was beautiful, the faces of the choir singers and orchestra were just glowing from the loveliness of the music. Thank you for the link, dear FRiend. I like Bocelli’s voice so much.

God bless and keep you throughout the Christmas season in safety, love and peace.

Thank you, Judith Anne! My husband and I saw most of that special/performance earlier this week. It was wonderful.

Thank you!!! Going to turn my speakers on right now!

I loathe secular Christmas music so this thread is greatly appreciated.

Sadly, I like “Grandma got run over by a reindeera’ because I think it’s funny.

But, for listening, I like the classics, and only the classics.

Thank yu so much for your service to our country. My grandsons, son and daughter in law hiked Philmont this past year. They’re hanging Christmas decorations downtown today, the boys have a day off school. They’ve been scouting for a long time, and especially enjoy the cold weather camping trips.

God bless you and all those you love with a wonderful Christmas season filled with joy, hope, peace and love.

Thanks,

When did your family members go to Philmont? Son and I were part of a crew that hiked Philmont in July this year and it was a treat...10 days of just hiking around northern NM...thinking nothing about work...hmmm, right now, I could use another 10 day trek.

Our son is 2 merit badges and project away from completing his Eagle. Has his project approved, funded, etc. Just waiting for him to decide when he’s ready to start.

God bless you and yours as well.

Merry Christmas!

OMG it was this past July that the fam went this year! They had such a wonderful time...My son and daughter in law both went as well as the boys, everyone came home with the veni vidi vici shirts, they were so proud. Scouting has been a big part of their lives. Daughter in law helped with organizing local trivia night, big success, tons of work...it’s all worth it.

It can be a challenge, that’s why they have such stringent requirements about health and fitness.

Our crew had a trek that was supposed to cover about 85 miles in the Northern section. We ended up doing a little more with side hikes and some navigational errors.

The sense of accomplishment when coming off the trail is indescribable. It was a watershed moment for our son and me, one that I won’t soon forget.

I’ve been a Scout leader for over 20 years and once a person “gets it”, it’s real tough to get them out of it. It’s always good to hear about Scouting families, without the family’s involvement, it’s just another “activity” vs a way to grow boys into men.

Ditto, “...it’s all worth it.”
