Please note that Jewish folks also wear religious under garments. It would be considered anti semitic to poke fun at their underwear so why is it OK to ridicule those of us who belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints? (Hint, it's not OK.) You know, that was my first thought when I was reading this as well. While I wouldn't call the Jewish garment ("Tzizit") "underwear," it IS a garment that is worn by religious Jews under their shirt. It does not have to be in direct contact with the skin (i.e. it's alright to wear this over an undershirt). It's a simple garment, with the same "fringes" that are found on the Jewish "Talit."

Thank you for Post 23. I first learned of the Jewish undergarment when I watched Senator Joe Lieberman as he addressed BYU recently.

Jews don’t regard their garments (tzitzit and kippa/yarmulke) like the Mormons with theirs as lurk says,
“The garments are a fetish, a belief that an article of clothing or an item has special powers. Hence the faith-promoting stories of garments saving people from accidents, burns, providing healing, etc.”
Jews wear them simply to remind themselves to keep the Torah.
Since Mormons think their magic underwear has special powers like an amulet or lucky rabbit’s foot we can see their superstitious nature and have a laugh over it.

Excuse me, but the tzitzit (thats the correct spelling) refers to the ritually knotted fringes that can be found attached to either a talit (prayer shawl) or a tallit katan which can be worn over or under the clothes. The main difference between the Mormon garment and the Jewish tallit/tallit katan is that the Mormon garment is a figment of a humans imagination, while the Jewish tallit is based on the Lords commandment to His people in Numbers 15:38 and Deuteronomy 22:12.
