“I can make fun of that all day, every day for the rest of my life.”
Yes, you can, but one wonders why you would want to. As for “becoming gods” - I don’t know what the heck you are talking about but I do know that Believers will become “joint heirs with Christ”.
You are one of two things here.
A liar....or blind.
You must not know anything about Mormonism. I’ve read a bit of their material and have talked with Mormons in good standing. The goal of Mormons is to become gods and goddesses and have celestial children of a planet.
Every Mormon I have ever come across are good and decent people, but it’s the theology that is a little off.
Keep in mind that much of it comes from Freemasonry. Joseph Smith was a mason who stole much of their material and used it for his new religion.
Now if I could just get a lift to Kolob! If you take the consonants of Kolob (K-L-B), those same consonants spell the word ‘kalb’ in Arabic which means ‘dog’. Hebrew is the same with the word ‘kelev’ (the ‘b’ being the plosive form of the letter ‘v’). I bet when dogs go to heaven Kolob is the place where they reside.
See how much fun I can have with Mormon theology?
Been skipping home studies SD? D&C 76:50-8 and 95, 132:15-23, 29, and 37; and Gospel Principles, 302 [1997 edition] state otherwise.
Encyclopedia of Mormonism, Vol.2:
GODHOOD
Logically and naturally, the ultimate desire of a loving Supreme Being is to help his children enjoy all that he enjoys. For Latter-day Saints, the term "godhood" denotes the attainment of such a stateone of having all divine attributes and doing as God does and being as God is. Such a state is to be enjoyed by all exalted, embodied, intelligent beings (see Deification; Eternal Progression; Exaltation; God; Perfection). The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches that all resurrected and perfected mortals become gods (cf. Gen. 3:22; Matt. 5:48). They will dwell again with God the Father, and live and act like him in endless worlds of happiness, power, love, glory, and knowledge; above all, they will have the power of procreating endless lives. Latter-day Saints believe that Jesus Christ attained godhood (see Christology) and that he marked the path and led the way for others likewise to become exalted divine beings by following him (cf. John 14:3).
It is sad to see a self appointed representative of mormonism fail so epically on such a key portion of mormon doctrine as this.
