God cursed the city of Nineveh because of sins that were less than those of America: "I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazing stock" (Nahum 3:6). Nope, the Catholic Church was given the authority to act, on earth, with the authority of God, and promised that she would not err when doing so. Worked for a couple of thousand years so far, who knows how much longer we have to honor both the Catholic church and God at the same time
