The accepted meaning is not that every bishop should have a wife (for St. Paul himself had none), but that no one should be admitted to the holy orders of bishop, priest, or deacon, who had been married more than once. At least accepted by almost ALL of the Apostolic Succession in an unbroken line over 2,000 years starting with Saints Peter and Paul through today.

That odd little cults over the years reject the clear teachings of the Apostles and of Our Lord makes no meaning to those who hold true to His One Holy and Apostolic Church.

You can just as well give up on that 2000 year stuff. The queen of heaven cult stuff is a whole lot older than that and so is using idols in worship. Both are condemned by God as abominations.
