Sampson was Nazarene. They took vows of abstinence. God seemed pretty pleased with Sampson until he fudged up on the haircut.

There is nothing wrong with drinking alchohol in moderation, and doing other things when married. But God also is pleased when people give up such lawful things for His sake.

That may well be but on a personal choice level. Those who command or demand things are condemned and the qualifications to be in church leadership is strictly outlined. The Pope, Bishops and Priests in the CC don’t qualify.

Do Catholics know the difference between the Old and New testament?

BTW the rule of abstinence has nothing to do with holiness or dedication..it has to do (as do all things Roman) with the wealth of the Roman church ...until priests started to leave 'church property " to their kids..Rome thought that marriage was ok...
