I had that exact same thought as I looked at the picture. Catholics seem to have not gone beyond. They are still under the law and not grace.
Once He is risen, it is proof that His sacrifice was accepted, the atonement has been made, paid in full, and God's requirement for a sin offering has been satisfied for all time. The Proof is that He raised Christ from the dead. If the penalty for sin had not been paid IN FULL by Christ's death for us, then God could not have raised Him. If there was even one sin that had not been paid for, Christ would still be hanging on the Cross.
Which is exactly where the RCC still has Him. Because they do not teach/believe that sin was paid for IN FULL. Keep Him a victim, and the "faithful" will continue to "suffer" with Him, hoping to satisfy God's need for justice. Work, work, work.
Commemorating Jesus’ sacrifice is tantamount to disbelieving or minimizing His resurrection? It seems that you, by your complaints, are minimizing His sacrifice. What is your hang-up with Christ crucified?
