Gay Episcopal Bishop to Preach at San Francisco Catholic Parish
Catholic Culture ^ | 11/22/11

Posted on 11/23/2011 11:11:08 AM PST by marshmallow

A notoriously 'gay-friendly' parish in San Francisco has invited an openly homosexual Episcopalian cleric to lead an Advent Vespers service.

Most Holy Redeemer parish asked Bishop Otis Charles, a retired Episcopalian prelate, to lead the November 30 service. After serving as the Bishop of Utah from 1971 to 1993, he publicly announced that he is homosexual. Divorced from the mother of his 5 children, he solemnized a same-sex union in 2004.

Thats because you do not believe scripture..ya need some men to tell you to believe it...

1Cr 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.

The only thing that [Luther and Calvin] discovered was wealth and power.

Really? Like this??????

Do you know how much wealth the Pope has?

http://www.vatican.va/gpII/documents/testamento-jp-ii_20050407_en.html says that:

I leave no possessions of which it will be necessary to dispose. As for the things I use every day, I ask that they be distributed as seems appropriate. Let my personal notes be burned. I ask that Fr Stanis³aw see to this, and I thank him for his help and collaboration, so understanding for so many years. On the other hand, I leave all my other "thank yous" in my heart before God Himself, because it is difficult to express them.

Yup, wealth and money and power. How much was Luther worth when he died? Far more than JPII. He left no possessions that would be necessary to dispose of. In other words, your charge of wealth and power fall upon a man who had none. I welcome the chance to illustrate that you are, well, wrong, once again.

You really want to go there about the size of houses???

See my last post. You think that the papal apartments are larger than your house?

We reverence Scripture; we have a low view of Scriptural reformers.

yea ya all REVERE it..but ya don't believe it..now the pope..him ya believe...

We believe God. It is the children of the Reformation that we do not believe.

Why, the Pope sounds positively pauperish the way you describe him. One meal shy of total destitution. Fortunately for him, he is surrounded by all the gold, and silver and art, and jewels, and ermine, and marble that religious institutions were commanded by Christ to own. not. If not for those Pope Perks, I’m sure he would be riding around in his Ice Cream Truck, selling Popesicles to earn enough for a bowl of soup and a piece of bread a day.

We Christians accept God and His Commandments and we accept Paul's teachings. We do not accept the novelties of the Reformation or the subsequent developments that have resulted. Who knows, we may may see the formerly Reformed Crystal Cathedral beome Christian under the Diocese of Orange. May God bring His people to Him however He will. We know it ain't gonna be with the lint gazers.

Yeah, I'll just bet the pope is living in poverty.

So he doesn't own a house? Big deal. Why should he when it's all provided for him for free anyway?

Jesus didn't live so ostentatiously.

Matthew 8:20 And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head."

How does one 'believe god" and yet deny the inherency of scripture ?How does one decide what is truth about God and what is fable?

How does one believe the most incredible claim of scripture..the resurrection and yet doubt the ability of God to preserve absolute truth in His word??

AMEN, Mom. How can anyone believe that God raised Christ from the dead, and yet cannot preserve absolute truth in His word?

you seem so interested in why Protestants always get things WRONG on purpose to prove that Catholics are incorrect.

Not interested, but amazed at some's consistency at it. Yet again.

I'm not convinced it's totally a result of purpose; I think it could also include a lack of capability.

Children of darkness inviting in spirits - just the light of a candle is all they can bear. And then run off tomorrow to feast on some flesh and blood. Do we know if this is a movie or real life?

The problem is you don’t seem capable of understanding Scripture that could prove your religion right or wrong. So, it’s always wrong when a non-Catholic speaks of it, it seems. That’s the TRULY amazing part. That you seem content to post your opinions based on nothing Scriptural, but all things non- or anti- Scriptural, like traditions and doctrines and writings of early Church fathers, and creeds, and councils. Those seem to be your anchor. And why I’m afraid I cannot take your opinions seriously. Yet again.
