A notoriously 'gay-friendly' parish in San Francisco has invited an openly homosexual Episcopalian cleric to lead an Advent Vespers service.
Most Holy Redeemer parish asked Bishop Otis Charles, a retired Episcopalian prelate, to lead the November 30 service. After serving as the Bishop of Utah from 1971 to 1993, he publicly announced that he is homosexual. Divorced from the mother of his 5 children, he solemnized a same-sex union in 2004.
But did you light candles, say incantations and kneel before her statue? You dont get the whole affect if you leave any of those out ya know.
I say the poster is at least crypto-Nestorian. Their beliefs line up with the anathemas of the Council of Ephesus.
Yes, definitely; but the posts indicate: without even being aware of it.
They compare Catholicism to their own little religion of Self and whatever portions of the Bible they haven’t thrown out yet.
Never said better
It's really very simple to understand....but then this would depend on how big ones God is seen as. Small Gods always need something else besides themselves for the men who cannot accept He alone is the Almighty...when something else fills other voids.
Sometimes I think that this obsession with Mary gives some men a sense of protecting her, if they aren't married, it fulfills the need for a partner...or the 'other woman' if married, they can freely associate with without getting into trouble. Which would explain so many varying images of Mary down thru the ages....each to his own liking.
What books did Luther reject or question that other RCs did not prior to Trent?
The beholder I am speaking of, and obvious to the context of the post, is Jesus Christ....not you.
As is generally the case some often miss the point of a poster... for the 'Knowlege' that's puffed up' their minds and hearts causing them to be too pridefull to see what is actually before them. Jesus had much to say about such minds did he not?
More mushy-headed thinking. God doesn't need for anything. If God is to become Incarnate, by the Christian meaning of God Incarate, a mother is needed.
Mary as the vessel
Mother. The word is Mother. Please remember this before next May when you go looking for a Vessel's Day Card.
Mary is the mother of Jesus.
Jesus is God.
Mary is the mother of God.
Problems even saying this are symptoms of problems with the orthodox Christian theology of the Most Holy Trinity: heresy. This is where deficient theology concerning Mary lead you, always.
Hopefully, some day, you'll have the opportunity to discuss your pronouncements on His mother, rather vessel, that God didn't need.
Your posts illustrate that minds and hearts can also be puffed up with ignorance.
The Word became flesh
was born of a woman
and walked among us.
All of that and yet, protestants see no significance in the fact that JESUS changed Simon’s name, giving the name Rock.
Why did Jesus change Simon’s name to Peter, Cephas, Rock?
Well you got the first two right D-Fender.....but you lost me entirely saying Mary’s the Mother of God... because how the catholic faith sees her as “mother” to Jesus...and how I see Mary as His mother are vastly different. You see her as ‘co-equal to Christ’....I will never do that...she is not nor never was and never will be........ it’s just a catholic thing...we know that.

BTW mushy headed thinking is perfectly acceptable to our Father...we all have mushy heads...no exceptions.
It's a syllogism. If it is properly formed and you accept the premises, the conclusion is proven true.
So your problem with saying Mary is the mother of God is either in the premises or the form. Which is it? And try not to change subjects.
It amazes me that Jesus said who is my mother and my brothers and then nay, more blessed are they who believe but the Catholics insist on putting Mary between themselves and Jesus.
Sure we understand why Simons name was changed....but not as your faith depicts it at all. Besides...Jesus is the Rock...our foundation.... above all else. Peter was one of his apostles....why make it more confusing then it is?
Maybe because he was that dense? I mean after all. Jesus had to ask him three times if he loved Him. Then Jesus even told Peter to get behind me Satan. Peter even denyed Christ.
It's a comfort thingy....safer that way then approaching the King of King and Lords of Lords....even though we've been told to enter 'Boldly" before Him. However iif one is not yet His that likely wouldn't happen..and I do believe some aren't His who think they are. That's sooo concerning!
BTW Once that truth hit home, of entering into his presense boldly, I knew I was free to talk to him about all things...even when I'm angry with Him....how wonderful it is to be completely honest with Him...
Actually, Scripture comes to us through the Holy Spirit and testifies to Jesus Christ our Savior.
God spoke, and the Word He spoke was Jesus and through Him all things were created and that Word became Incarnate and dwelt among us and suffered and died for our sins.
The written word is inspired of God through the working of the Holy Spirit and is not the Creator but tells of the Creator.
There is a difference.
