"THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST"
The Highway ^ | 11/04/2011 | Charles H. Spurgeon

Posted on 11/04/2011 12:06:23 PM PDT by RnMomof7

1. The precious blood of Christ has a REDEEMING POWER. It redeems from the law. We were all under the law which says, "This do, and live." We were slaves to it: Christ has paid the ransom price, and the law is no longer our tyrant master. We are entirely free from it. The law had a dreadful curse; it threatened that whosoever should violate one of its precepts, should die: "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us." By the fear of this curse, the law inflicted a continual dread on those who were under it; they knew they had disobeyed it, and they were all their lifetime subject to bondage, fearful lest death and destruction should come upon them at any moment: but we are not under the law, but under grace, and consequently "We have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but we have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father."

We are not afraid of the law now; its worst thunders cannot affect us, for they are not hurled at us! Its most tremendous lightnings cannot touch us, for we are sheltered beneath the cross of Christ, where the thunder loses its terror and the lightning its fury. We read the law of God with pleasure now; we look upon it as in the ark covered with the mercy seat, and not thundering in tempests from Sinai’s fiery brow.

Happy is that man who knows his full redemption from the law, its curse, its penalty, its present dread. My brethren, the life of a Jew, happy as it was compared with that of a heathen, was perfect drudgery compared to yours and mine. He was hedged in with a thousand commands and prohibitions, his forms and ceremonies were abundant, and their details minutely arranged. He was always in danger of making himself unclean. If he sat upon a bed or upon a stool, he might be defiled; if he drank out of an earthen pitcher, or even touched the wall of a house, a leprous man might have put his hand there before him, and he would thus become defiled.

A thousand sins of ignorance were like so many hidden pits in his way; he must be perpetually in fear lest he should be cut off from the people of God. When he had done his best any one day, he knew he had not finished; no Jew could ever talk of a finished work. The bullock was offered, but he must bring another; the lamb was offered this morning, but another must be offered this evening, another tomorrow, and another the next day. The Passover is celebrated with holy rites; it must be kept in the same manner next year. The high priest has gone within the veil once, but he must go there again; the thing is never finished, it is always beginning. He never comes any nearer to the end. "The law could not make the comer thereunto perfect."

But see our position: we are redeemed from this. Our law is fulfilled, for Christ is the end of the law for righteousness; our passover is slain, for Jesus died; our righteousness is finished, for we are complete in Him; our victim is slain, our priest has gone within the veil, the blood is sprinkled; we are clean, and clean beyond any fear of defilement, "For he hath perfected for ever those that were set apart." Value this precious blood, my beloved, because thus it has redeemed you from the thraldom and bondage which the law imposed upon its votaries.

I know it must be befuddling to you for Catholics to actually know the Bible better than you. But why shouldn't we, we actually wrote it.

LOL.....The Christian God does not hate.

Pro 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

Rev 2:6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

Do I need say more???

Proof:

Rev 2:6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

Proof you don't know the Bible has well as GOD does. The Catholics have hated and persecuted and burn to death REAL Christians. Don't tell me the Catholics don't hate...history is evidence...of your ancient Babylonian Nimrod pagan vain religious system worship.

when Ananias baptized Paul in Acts 22:16, he was the Church. the Church received this command from Jesus in Matthew 28. in Acts 8, Philip was the Church.

What is "the church" do you know?

again, baptism is not a work. no one can baptize themself.

It is a work of the parents on the behalf of an infant.. Someone must change the diaper.. dress them and carry them to the church.. they must make a public affirmation of faith FOR the child.. it is a work.. especially now that the parents must attend classes and mass to have the baby baptized...

It is a work of the parents and the church.. salvation by works

So you're not feeling the love... why don't your kind quit calling real Christians heretics, and quit accusing us of anathema, and quit forcing works like water baptism as a requirement for salvation, and acknowledge that the Apostle Paul has been given the ministry to the Gentiles and the ministry of reconciliation: II Corinthians 5:18: And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; and acknowledge that the Apostle Peter was given the ministry to the Jews 2,000 years ago, which had completed by the end of the book of Acts when Paul was forced to preach only to the Gentiles because the Jews had finally and fully rejected the grace of God; and acknowledge that Christ is the Head of the Church, His Body, consisting of all believer-saints (non-Catholics) [Colossians 1:18), and that Christ is the only mediator between God and man (not through Mary) - I Timothy 2:5: For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; and acknowledge that Christ taught that mens traditions were not to be followed (Mark 7:3,5,8,9,13, Matthew 15:2,3, Colossians 2:8, 2 Thessalonians 3:6) - Colossians 2:8: Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. II Thessalonians 3:6: Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.; and acknowledge that the virgin Mary called our to reject that her saviour was Christ Jesus, she recognized her former sin as evidence from Luke 1:47: And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.; and acknowledge that the virgin Mary is never once called in Scripture a mediator or co-mediator together with Christ - that would make her equal with deity!; and acknowledge what Peter said in II Peter 3:15: And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; II Peter 3:16: As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.. These acknowledgments would begin a sure sign of mutual love for one another as John wrote about in 15:17; but if you persist in calling real Christians heretics, and accusing us of anathema on these Bible truths, then it is upon your head that you neither love us Christians nor respect the truths of the Bible that God holds dear in our hearts.

WHAT YOU SAID! AMEN!

Find your place in God's Plan for Man and you'll not be tossed to and for with every wind of doctrine.

A good starting place would be a careful, prayerful reading of Galatians, Chapter 2. When did "time past" end so that "But now" could begin? And when does "but now" end so that "the ages to come" can begin? This is rightly dividing God's Word of truth. If a person today is trying to live his religion from "time past" commandments, teachings, and promises, he is DOOMED to fail. And will go through this life deceived and confused.

It is only the "But now" that gives us our walk for today, our commission for today, the gospel that saves, our eternal security, and our understanding of God's approval for us as His workmen in His Plan. But it will not last forever. "The Ages to Come" is going to replace it.

"and quit accusing us of anathema..."

Your paranoia is showing. Since you obviously reject the authority of the Catholic Church what do you care who they anathematize? After all is is only an instruction to those of us in Communion with the saints to shun you. You are free to continue to do what ever your little heretical heart desires.

That is the proof for all to see - you, the Catholic, hates all that the Christian IN CHRIST possess as eternal salvation and declared son of God and declared saved from the blood of Christ on the cross. Proof again that the Catholic calls every true Christ saved Christian a 'heretic'. On judgement day at the great white throne these false words you continue to utter against the Christians IN CHRIST will ring in the ears of Christ Jesus when He reviews your deeds.

Galatians 4:16: Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

Evidently, the answer is 'yes' from the Catholic perspective. Your false words will be accounted for at the great white throne. Please repent of your sins...the blood of Christ has already paid in full for all sins committed. Mine are forgiven, I do hope your sins one day will be cleansed.

Amen smvoice - that is exactly the ‘why’ and ‘what’ presuppositions of the catholic mind has failed to learn - God’s Plan for Man in ‘time past’, ‘but now’, and the ‘ages to come’ - rightly dividing God’s Word of truth - which is what every believer in grace today should learn in order to avoid destruction of clear and simple truths which are found in rightly dividing the Word of truth. I have shared the gospel of grace to many former catholics who admitted confusion and deception until they learned the plain and simple truths of rightly dividing God’s Word of truth. Praise God for His plan for man today in His grace for all to believe and have liberty and be cleansed from sin. Praise God that many who were once confused and deceived are now coming out of her which places a mill stone around the neck of people.

although you and i would agree on many areas, we will diagree on authority. Jesus gave His authority to the Church in Matthew 28 to baptize and teach.
If the Church has the authority to teach, believers have the duty to learn.
you say God’s word trumps all authority, but without the Church being guided by the Holy Spirit, we would not know what works are Scripture and which are not.
have you personally read the gospels of peter and thomas to determine if they are Scripture or can we rely on the Church and it’s authority to decide the canon?
finally, i don’t seperate Jesus from His Body, the Church as you apparently do by your last statement.
being in a mixed marriage ( my wife is Lutheran ) i have a great respect for the Lutheran Church.

Again everyone...this person - Natural Law - is never able to present Bible Scripture support for their position - just quoting someone else who is not God just will not cut it in discussions...little insults just will not cut it in discussions of Bible doctrine.

You are free to continue to do what ever your little heretical heart desires

Again - that is the proof for all to see - that this Catholic hates all that the Christian IN CHRIST possess as eternal salvation and declared son of God and declared saved from the blood of Christ on the cross.

Romans 2:16: In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

I Corinthians 16:22: If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.

I love the Lord Jesus Christ, I am NOT Anathema per God's standard via Paul's writings. It is Paul's Gospel which will judge them, not Peter's Gospel.

The onus on on the Catholics to repent for they hate the true Christians and on this forum often call them heretics.

Romans 8:35: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Romans 8:36: As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Romans 8:37: Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Romans 8:38: For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Romans 8:39: Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It is impossible for Rome to tell God Almighty to send me to Hell, for I am a child and son of God and saved by grace and not through works and have Christ as my only Redeemer and His blood alone saved me from my sins which have been fully forgiven - Rome cannot take that away from me - for if it tried, it would be fighting against God.

Do not make this thread "about" individual Freepers. That is also a form of "making it personal."

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.
