"THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST"
The Highway ^ | 11/04/2011 | Charles H. Spurgeon

Posted on 11/04/2011 12:06:23 PM PDT by RnMomof7

1. The precious blood of Christ has a REDEEMING POWER. It redeems from the law. We were all under the law which says, "This do, and live." We were slaves to it: Christ has paid the ransom price, and the law is no longer our tyrant master. We are entirely free from it. The law had a dreadful curse; it threatened that whosoever should violate one of its precepts, should die: "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us." By the fear of this curse, the law inflicted a continual dread on those who were under it; they knew they had disobeyed it, and they were all their lifetime subject to bondage, fearful lest death and destruction should come upon them at any moment: but we are not under the law, but under grace, and consequently "We have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but we have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father."

We are not afraid of the law now; its worst thunders cannot affect us, for they are not hurled at us! Its most tremendous lightnings cannot touch us, for we are sheltered beneath the cross of Christ, where the thunder loses its terror and the lightning its fury. We read the law of God with pleasure now; we look upon it as in the ark covered with the mercy seat, and not thundering in tempests from Sinai’s fiery brow.

Happy is that man who knows his full redemption from the law, its curse, its penalty, its present dread. My brethren, the life of a Jew, happy as it was compared with that of a heathen, was perfect drudgery compared to yours and mine. He was hedged in with a thousand commands and prohibitions, his forms and ceremonies were abundant, and their details minutely arranged. He was always in danger of making himself unclean. If he sat upon a bed or upon a stool, he might be defiled; if he drank out of an earthen pitcher, or even touched the wall of a house, a leprous man might have put his hand there before him, and he would thus become defiled.

A thousand sins of ignorance were like so many hidden pits in his way; he must be perpetually in fear lest he should be cut off from the people of God. When he had done his best any one day, he knew he had not finished; no Jew could ever talk of a finished work. The bullock was offered, but he must bring another; the lamb was offered this morning, but another must be offered this evening, another tomorrow, and another the next day. The Passover is celebrated with holy rites; it must be kept in the same manner next year. The high priest has gone within the veil once, but he must go there again; the thing is never finished, it is always beginning. He never comes any nearer to the end. "The law could not make the comer thereunto perfect."

But see our position: we are redeemed from this. Our law is fulfilled, for Christ is the end of the law for righteousness; our passover is slain, for Jesus died; our righteousness is finished, for we are complete in Him; our victim is slain, our priest has gone within the veil, the blood is sprinkled; we are clean, and clean beyond any fear of defilement, "For he hath perfected for ever those that were set apart." Value this precious blood, my beloved, because thus it has redeemed you from the thraldom and bondage which the law imposed upon its votaries.

>> There is none, but neither is there any Scripture proof that declares that all of the Revealed Word and Truth is to be found within Scripture.<<

It does say however, that we have been told all we need.

The RCC relies on stories like all the Apostles, both alive and dead were transported by white clouds to be at Mary’s side when she was on her death bed? And like how Jesus came down from heaven to get her even if scripture says He doesn’t come down to earth again until the end of time? Maybe all the mystical stories of the The Transitus Mariae which reads like a story from some teenager writing fiction.

>>I know it must be befuddling to you for Catholics to actually know the Bible better than you. But why shouldn't we, we actually wrote it.<<

Then why didn’t they write into it the bodily assumption of Mary? After all they claim that even God has to listen to her.

"God actually hates the proud!"

LOL.....The Christian God does not hate. I find that your posts contain little bible and no truth, but do contain a generous amount of hate.

On the contrary, the Catholics have no bible truth regarding Grace thru Christ alone without the help of Mary, no bible truth about Christ as the Head of the Church, His body, rather than the RC building and Pope, and Catholics write greatly about hateful words towards true Bible believers calling them into anathema...so who has the generous amount of hate? Try the mirror!

God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

"Then why didn’t they write into it the bodily assumption of Mary?"

They didn't need to. We have the Tradition and the Church arising from a single source and conjoined in a single Truth for those of faith who believe. Besides, were it there, you would no doubt find other reasons to hate the Church and reject the Truth.

Don't flatter yourself. You won't be the first misguided person to bend your pick against the Rock.

>>The Christian God does not hate.

Psalm 5:5 The boastful shall not stand before Your eyes; You hate all who do iniquity.

Psalm 11:5 The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked, And the one who loves violence His soul hates.

Leviticus 20:23 ‘Moreover, you shall not follow the customs of the nation which I will drive out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I have abhorred them.

Proverbs 6:16 There are six things which the Lord hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: 17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, 19 A false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers

"The RCC has the traditions of the pagans of Babylon."

Every time I hear that I laugh because there is absolutely no clue in any of your posts that you actually know anything about the Traditions of the Church and I doubt you know anything about Babylon. You probably don't have any idea how ridiculous you look with your loins all girded up in Jack T. Squat comic book fallacies.

There is none, but neither is there any Scripture proof that declares that all of the Revealed Word and Truth is to be found within Scripture.

You are purposely clouding the issue. The issue is not whether what is in the Bible is "everything" ... it clearly is not. There is no mention of the full solution to the Magnetic Field Integral Equations.

But what IS in there is sufficient for salvation, doctrine, and practice.

2 Timothy 3:15 and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

All the stuff that has been left out was left out for a reason ... because it is irrelevant to salvation ... if it was required for salvation, it would be in there.

You think the CC is the first church to include the “queen mother” in their worship? You need to know about Artemis Diana of Ephesus. Mary was declared “Mother of God” by the Christian church in the 7th century at Ephesus, Turkey where the temple to the goddess, Artemus Diana whose sacred title was “Queen of Heaven”. Artemus Diana was called “the mother of us all” by here worshipers. Check out the temple to the goddess Artemus Diana in Ephesus, Turkey. Read the account in Revelation 2 about the church at Ephesus. Thou hast left they first love” is referring to their allowing the worship of the goddess Artemus Diana to infiltrate the church. The Catholic Church has allowed the same to happen.

"Ephesus was an important religious city. The Temple of Diana (or Artemus, as the Greeks called her) was considered one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The goddess Diana was the patron of all the prostitutes and, with her many-bosomed image, represented fertility and sexuality. Many writers in ancient times described the immorality of the city. "One pillar in the Ephesian economy was the production of silver images of Diana by the many silversmiths who plied their trade there. Devotees of this goddess brought much gain to the city (Acts 19:23-27). Black magic was also widely practiced in Ephesus." The Madonna and child are fashioned after Isis and her son Horus. Another was Dmeter and her daughter Kore.

Do your own research to see where the pagan practices of the CC originate from. They aren’t condoned in scripture.

Jesus said He would build His Church and the gates of hell would not prevail against it.

2,000 years later, the words of Jesus are absolutely true, the Universal Church is still here!

The religion of Izlam is still here...Apparently the gates of hell haven't prevailed against that either...Buddhism is still here...No gates of hell there either...

So apparently, your statment doesn't mean much...Unless you maybe don't understand the verse...Ya think???

again, why do you persist in the unbiblical term “water baptism”. i don’t know what that is, since the Bible doesn’t know what it is. let’s talk about what the Bible talks about, namely “baptism”

Act 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Well, there's Jesus once again slapping you upside the head with his own words...

the only way we can know for sure whether infant baptism is correct or not is to follow the teaching authority of the Church.

Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

If I didn't know any scripture at all, you might be able to convince me of a few things...But since I do know some scripture, I can see to put you into this group...

Gal 1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

And,

2Co 2:17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

But as we can see from Mark, if one believes and is baptized, one gets saved...But if one doesn't believe, whether the person was baptized or not, the person is damned...

It doesn't get any simpler than that...If you can get a two month old baby to believe on Jesus Christ, by all means let him/her get baptized...

Because judgment is not yours and it defies logic and Scripture for anyone to claim that there nothing they could do to loose Salvation.

Of course it defies a natural man's logic...How do you guys expect to understand the spiritual things of God by spending your lives learning human philosophy???

And of course it does not defy scripture...
